X-rays of the MagSafe charger provided by Creative Electron show that the internal charging coil is surrounded by a ring of magnets inside a small ball. iFixit opened the Magsafe at the junction of the white rubber ring and the metal frame, which is connected with strong thermal adhesive. There is an etched copper sticker under the white cover, and four corresponding leads are spaced outside the charging coil. Under the coil is a shielded circuit board.
iFixit also provided a comparison with the Apple Watch charger, which looks surprisingly different from MagSafe on the inside. The main difference is that the MagSafe charger has a circle of dark magnets on the outside, which corresponds to the magnets inside the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro. The Apple Watch charger uses a magnet in the center for alignment.
iFixit is expected to release teardown reports of the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro soon.
