Affected by the global health crisis, the release date of iPhone 12 has been postponed compared with previous years, and there are rumors that Apple may delay the launch of the new iPhone 12 series until mid-October. However, recently, the well-known YouTube technology blogger EverythingApplePro shared a 5-second video on Twitter, showing a so-called back cover of the new iPhone 12 Pro. He claimed that this year's new generation of iPhones is expected to usher in major changes in internal design.
Apple executives confirmed several months ago that the release of the iPhone 12 will be delayed this year, and it will not even be officially launched in September. Subsequent rumors said that Apple will launch two entry-level iPhone 12 new models in late October, and the other two Pro models are scheduled to be launched in late November.
Last week, Apple announced that it would hold an online virtual press conference on September 15 (1:00 a.m. Beijing time on September 16). But it seems that this event may focus mainly on non-main hardware product lines such as the new generation Apple Watch Series 6, iPad Air, and the eighth-generation iPad.
Even so, @EveryApplePro shared this 5-second spy video of the so-called iPhone 12 Pro's back cover on Twitter.
Much of the new design is consistent with early rumors, but the layout of the rear camera is very different from the leaks we've seen over the past six months.
As the biggest design change since the release of iPhone X, Apple abandoned the rounded edges on the iPhone 12 and returned to a flat middle frame design similar to the iPhone 4/5 and the new iPad Pro, which also coincides with earlier rumors.
Turning to the back of the phone, we can see that it uses a glass back cover and a wireless charging coil. In terms of the rear camera, the larger circular hole is obviously reserved for the three main cameras. The other two smaller circular holes suggest the LED flash and the legendary LiDAR sensor.
It is reported that Apple intends to transfer the LiDAR sensor on the new iPad Pro to the iPhone 12 Pro series models to enhance and expand the AR experience of the new generation of iPhones.
In addition, the SIM card tray seems to have moved to the left side of the earpiece, and there is also a strange cutout on the right side, which is speculated to be used to accommodate the new 5G antenna of the iPhone 12 Pro.
Of course, all four iPhone 12 models are expected to offer 5G network support. In addition to antennas, Qualcomm's modem components are also required.
For Apple, returning to a flat mid-frame design will help it use as much internal space as possible to accommodate all necessary components and increase battery capacity without sacrificing battery life.
Unfortunately, this leak does not involve the front of the iPhone 12 Pro. However, there are rumors that Apple will reduce the notch since the iPhone X.
