On September 2, 2020, Intel released its next-generation mobile PC processor. At the same time, Intel also announced that it would further expand its extensive ecosystem partner network to accelerate the development of the mobile PC industry.
It is understood that the new 11th generation Intel Core processor (code-named "Tiger Lake") equipped with Intel Iris® Xe graphics can bring excellent experience in real scenarios to notebooks with Windows and ChromeOS systems, including better daily office, collaborative work, content creation, gaming and entertainment experience.
Tiger Lake uses an enhanced 10nm process technology and adds the new SuperFin transistor technology for the first time, which is said to bring performance improvements comparable to full node conversion.
The CPU part is the new Willow Cove architecture, with up to 4 cores and 8 threads, and a maximum frequency of 4.8GHz. Compared with the Sunny Cove 3.9GHz in the Ice Lake 10th generation Core, it has made a qualitative leap. On the one hand, this is due to the architecture upgrade, and on the other hand, it is thanks to the 10nm SuperFin process technology.
The GPU core display part is the new Xe LP, which is also the first appearance of the Xe architecture. It is a low-power version with up to 96 EU execution units. If the number is increased by half, the performance can be improved by up to 2 times. It also supports deep learning acceleration instructions DP4A, which can accelerate AI applications.
The memory supports up to 32GB LPDDR4/4X-4266 and 64GB DDR4-3200. It will also support LPDDR5-5400 in the future and has Intel full memory encryption technology.
In terms of AI, the new Gaussian network accelerator GNA 2.0 is integrated, which is equivalent to the role of NPU. It can perform neural reasoning calculations efficiently with very low power consumption and CPU occupancy.
The 11th Gen Intel Core processors use Intel's new SuperFin process technology to optimize power efficiency while providing leading performance and responsiveness, with significantly higher operating frequencies than previous generations. Acer, Asus, Dell, Dyna, HP, Lenovo, LG, MSI, Razer, Samsung and other manufacturers are expected to launch more than 150 notebooks equipped with the 11th Gen Intel Core processors.
Intel also introduced the Intel Evo platform brand. Laptops based on the Intel Evo platform brand have passed the second edition specifications and key experience indicators of the Athena Innovation Program. Laptops based on the Intel Evo platform brand use the 11th generation Intel Core processors equipped with Intel Iris Xe graphics cards and have passed strict certification, making them an excellent choice for efficient processing tasks. It is expected that more than 20 laptops based on the Intel® Evo™ platform brand will be certified and launched this year.
“The 11th Gen Intel Core processors with Intel Iris Xe graphics deliver a significant leap in performance for real-world applications, making them the most powerful laptop processors we’ve ever launched,” said Gregory Bryant, Intel executive vice president and general manager of the Client Computing Group. “From everyday office work and content creation to entertainment and gaming, choosing an 11th Gen Intel Core laptop, especially one co-engineered with the new Intel® Evo™ platform certification, will give you an exceptional experience.”
