Apple officially unveiled the iPhone 11 series. Although it did not bring many surprises, what parts of the new iPhone were upgraded compared to the previous generation iPhone XR, iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max?
Apple held a new product launch conference in California, USA on the 10th (local time), announcing three new products, iPhone11, iPhone11 Pro and iPhone11 Pro Max. This series corresponds to last year's iPhoneXR, iPhoneXS and iPhoneXS Max. It is based on the screen size and design of the previous generation, upgrades the camera module and processor, and uses a more durable glass material to improve overall performance.
South Korean media ZDNet Korea pointed out that it is difficult to find highlights in the new iPhone that can defeat Samsung Electronics and Huawei. The outside world also generally criticizes Apple for "lack of innovation", but overall, the new iPhone has begun to conform to the popular trend in hardware, and has upgraded software functions to improve user experience (UX).
From the specification point of view, the biggest difference between the iPhone 11 series and the previous generation is the camera module. For the first time, Apple uses a square module with three lenses, which is quite eye-catching in appearance. For example, the previous generation iPhone XR only has a 7-megapixel lens, while the iPhone 11 is upgraded to a 12-megapixel dual lens, while the iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max are upgraded from dual lenses to three lenses, and support 4K photography, instant video editing, and greatly improved night shooting mode.
In terms of performance, the iPhone 11 series is equipped with the A13 chip, and has improved image processing system and battery performance. Compared with the previous generation, the central processing unit (CPU) and graphics processing unit (GPU) have both increased performance by 2 times. The battery life of iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max has increased by 1, 4 and 5 hours respectively, and the recognition speed of the facial recognition function FaceID has also increased by 30%.
The iPhone 11 series looks similar to the previous generation, but the flagship iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max have larger screens and are heavier. The iPhone 11 uses a 6.1-inch LCD screen, the iPhone 11 Pro is equipped with a 5.8-inch OLED display, and the iPhone 11 Pro Max is equipped with a 6.5-inch OLED display. Overall, the size of the iPhone 11 is the same as that of the iPhone XR, but the overall size of the iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max is larger than the previous generation and is about 10 to 20 grams heavier.
It is worth noting that the colors of the new iPhone have increased from 3 to 10. iPhone11 Pro and iPhone11 Pro Max have 4 colors: midnight green, space gray, silver, and gold, while iPhone11 has 6 colors: purple, green, yellow, black, white, and red.
Compared with the FaceID of iPhoneX and the popular notch design of iPhoneXR, iPhone11 is indeed lacking some highlights. Some people also jokingly say that Apple’s biggest innovation this year is "pricing", because Apple, which has been pursuing a high-price strategy, has reversed its past style and no longer raised the price of the flagship version. The price of iPhone11 has been reduced from US$749 to US$699.
