Well-known influencer @万能大熊 posted a post mocking AnTuTu for upgrading its version overnight in order to make the Snapdragon 665's running score surpass that of Snapdragon 660. He himself tested that after the upgrade, the Snapdragon 665's running score had increased by 20,000 points compared to when it was first released.
In response to @万能大雄's ridicule, AnTuTu hit back, "If you read the original text carefully, you will know that the initial running score came from the prototype developed by Qualcomm. Using the mass-produced version for comparison is probably out of your mind. If you want to prove it, use the same machine to run the old and new versions. The person who is trying to lead the trend is either stupid or evil, or he may really know nothing."
In addition, AnTuTu also explained why the Snapdragon 665 running score has increased by 20,000 points compared to when it was first released:
"The previous score of 120,000 came from Qualcomm's early reference design platform. Strictly speaking, it is not a complete version of the phone, but a design solution created by Qualcomm for mobile phone manufacturers to refer to, helping them to design and mass-produce Snapdragon 665-based phones as soon as possible. The reference design platform will not be aligned with the final mass-produced firmware in terms of system tuning, not to mention that from what we know, this is still an early platform.
When AnTuTu revealed the Snapdragon 665 running score, it clearly stated that this was the running score of the reference design platform and did not represent the final result. This is also the practice of AnTuTu to expose running scores. The final score will be based on the running score released by the manufacturer. After all, the reference design platform and the final version may only have the same processor, and the other hardware is completely different (maybe even the processor stepping is different). "
AnTuTu had a fight with @万能大熊 over the Snapdragon 665 processor's running score, which successfully attracted the attention of two senior executives of Xiaomi. They forwarded AnTuTu's Weibo to express their support.
Xiaomi Product Director Wang Teng said: "Xiaomi CC9e is the first product of the Snapdragon 665 platform. The first platform usually has a debugging time of 2 to 4 months from the time it can be adjusted to the final market launch. The performance will definitely be continuously optimized and improved. CC9e will go on sale next Tuesday. Everyone is welcome to buy it and then run the test to experience it."
Xiaomi Mobile Software R&D Director @安卓老张 agrees with AnTuTu's statement.
