As we all know, all vehicles equipped with engines must meet the National VI emission regulations. Starting from the "Light Vehicle Pollutants and Measurement Methods (China Phase VI)" issued on December 23, 2016, all light vehicles sold and registered must meet the National VI a limit requirements from July 1, 2020; and from July 1, 2023, all light vehicles sold and registered must meet the National VI b limit requirements.

The evaporative pollutant emission test in the standard refers to the emission of hydrocarbons stored in the fuel system into the atmosphere through penetration and evaporation.

◎Traditional internal combustion engine vehicles: In order to control evaporative emissions, an oil-gas adsorption system (carbon canister system) is required, in which the fuel is converted from liquid to gas under temperature changes, and the fuel vapor is adsorbed by the activated carbon in the carbon canister system. When the engine is started, the intake system will inhale air from the vent in the carbon canister, and the vaporized fuel will also enter the combustion chamber for combustion.

◎ Hybrid vehicles: When the vaporized fuel adsorbed by the carbon canister reaches a threshold, the system automatically closes the pipeline between the carbon canister and the fuel tank, sealing the gasoline vapor in the fuel tank to avoid gasoline volatilization pollution. Yapp developed this system in 2018.

◎PHEV Hybrid Fuel Tank Research (Y-EMTS): The vapor management of a hybrid fuel system is different from that of a traditional fuel tank. To solve the vapor management problem in the fuel tank when the vehicle is electrically driven, Yapp developed a high-pressure fuel tank solution to control the oil vapor inside the tank.

Summary: From a long-term perspective, engine oil tanks will coexist with us for at least ten years. Hybrid power (HEV, PHEV, EREV) in a broad sense is also an important form of engine existence. Under the current circumstances, the engine is gradually evolving into an extended range or secondary power source, and the National VI emission requirements impose certain restrictions on hybrid vehicles (HEV, PHEV, EREV). On the road to electrification, we hope that everyone can remain patient and advance in compliance with the law. This is a regulation that both Chinese and global automobile companies must comply with.
