With the popularity of electronic money payments, the demand for payment terminals and logistics mobile label printers continues to grow. In the field of mobile label printers and payment terminals, 2-cell lithium-ion battery-powered thermal printers have become mainstream due to their excellent printing speed and quality. However, in pursuit of smaller, lighter and energy-saving devices, the use of single-cell lithium-ion battery drives has gradually become a trend, but its problems of slow printing speed and short battery life limit its widespread application.
To solve this problem, ROHM successfully developed a new thermal print head-KR2002-Q06N5AA. This print head is compatible with single-cell lithium-ion battery (3.6V) drive, which not only achieves high-performance printing, but also saves about 30% energy.
KR2002-Q06N5AA adopts an innovative structural design with optimized glaze (as a heat storage layer) and special low-resistance heating elements. At the same time, the structure of the protective film on the heating element has also been optimized to ensure that the heat generated can be efficiently transferred to the printing media, such as thermal paper and thermal transfer ribbon. In addition, by improving the driver IC and wiring structure, the device can convert electricity into heat energy more efficiently, thereby improving printing performance.
These improvements allow the KR2002-Q06N5AA to achieve the same printing speed and quality as a traditional 2-cell lithium-ion battery (7.2V) driven print head when using a single lithium-ion battery. Compared with existing single-cell-powered thermal printheads, the KR2002-Q06N5AA reduces the applied energy required for printing by approximately 30%, achieving greater energy efficiency while reducing the size and weight of thermal printer equipment.
Looking to the future, ROHM will continue to expand its rich thermal printhead product line, committed to providing high image quality, industry-leading printing speed and excellent efficiency. The launch of this new thermal print head KR2002-Q06N5AA will further promote the development of mobile payment and logistics industries.
