AC motor is a very broad classification. The types of motors themselves are very large. AC motors can also be divided into low-speed and high-speed. The low-speed one can be called a low-speed motor or an AC low-speed motor, and the high-speed one can be called a high-speed motor, a high-speed electric motor, or an AC high-speed motor. The high-speed motor can also be called an electric spindle, a high-speed electric spindle, and so on.

AC motors can be classified in different ways, including the following:

1. According to the power type: single-phase AC motor, three-phase AC motor

2. According to the rotor type: asynchronous motor, synchronous motor

3. According to working principle and structure: induction motor, electric motor, permanent magnet motor, stepper motor, linear motor, etc.

4. According to the purpose: general motor, special motor (such as wind turbine, pump motor, compressor motor, cutting machine motor, etc.)

5. According to workload: low power AC motor, medium power AC motor, high power AC motor.

There are many ways to measure AC motors. The following is one of the commonly used methods:

1. Measure the resistance value

Use the resistance range of a multimeter to measure the winding resistance of the AC motor. Under normal circumstances, the winding resistance should be relatively stable. If there is discontinuous resistance or the resistance value is obviously too high or too low, it means that the AC motor is faulty.

2. Measure insulation resistance

Use the insulation resistance range of the multimeter to measure the insulation resistance of the AC motor. Generally speaking, the insulation resistance should be higher than 10 megohms. If the insulation resistance value is lower, it means that there is leakage in the AC motor winding.

3. Measuring current and voltage

The AC motor can be connected to a power source, and the current and voltage values can be measured. The power value of the AC motor can be obtained by calculation. If the power value is lower than the rated power, it means that the AC motor is faulty.

4. Observe the operation status

You can turn on the AC motor and observe its operation. If there are abnormal conditions such as loud noise, obvious vibration, and motor instability, it means that the AC motor is faulty.

It should be noted that the above measurement methods require the use of professional test instruments and personnel with relevant technical knowledge to operate. If you do not have the corresponding technical knowledge and relevant test instruments, please do not attempt to measure to avoid danger. It is recommended to seek help from professional maintenance personnel.
