This HiFi headphone amplifier circuit is specially designed to drive a series of headphones with not too high impedance. The headphone amplifier consists of a high-quality operational amplifier and two transistors as additional amplifiers.
The signal input from the source will go into the low pass filter circuit composed of C1 and R1. The use of operational amplifier IC LF356 will be beneficial in producing a signal with very low distortion.
The standby current is set by diodes D1-D4, R7 and R8. R3 and R4 will act as feedback to produce a gain of 15dB. The frequency response range of the amplifier circuit is 10Hz to 30KHz.
Since the headphone amplifier circuit is used to drive headphones, it does not require a lot of power to work. This amplifier is capable of producing 1 W of power into an 8 ohm speaker load and has an input sensitivity of 500mV. This amplifier circuit also produces sound well with headphones that have an impedance of 32 ohms.
The voltage required for the circuit to work is 6-8VDC. To prevent damage to the transistor, it is recommended to use a heat sink on the second transistor so that the heat can be directed away.
