Since it was open sourced in September 2020, the OpenHarmony system capabilities have been continuously improved with version iterations, and ecological construction has begun to take shape.
"OpenHarmony has become the fastest-growing operating system. There are more than 110 commercial terminals, more than 100 development models and module support, and there are currently 28 OpenHarmony-based distributions used in education, finance, transportation, mining, etc. field, building an information infrastructure base for thousands of industries," said Yu Chengdong, Huawei's Managing Director, Terminal BG CEO, and Smart Car Solutions BU CEO. "We hope to use OpenHarmony to (achieve) 'overtaking around corners' in the operating system."
Previously, a Strategy Analytics report showed that smartphones currently equipped with Hongmeng system have a global market share of 2%, which means that Hongmeng has become the third largest smartphone system in the world.
In the current global market, Android is still the most used, with a current market share of 81%; followed by iOS, with a market share of 18%. The two occupy 99% of the smartphone market share, which is still very exaggerated. For some reason, Hongmeng’s market share at this time is 2%, and its total share has exceeded 100%.
Not long ago, "Father of Hongmeng" Wang Chenglu reiterated that Hongmeng system is not Android, iOS, nor a single-device operating system. The greatest value of Hongmeng lies in the combination of multiple devices, and it has three important technical features, namely "unified OS, Flexible deployment", "Hardware mutual assistance, resource sharing", "One-time development, multi-deployment".
Regarding the upcoming Hongmeng system, Hongmeng 3.1, which has just been released to public beta, will not see much change. The new system should mainly focus on bug fixes, stability, fluency, and compatibility improvements. It will also be the first to support new features of the P60, such as the new generation of Hongmeng. Xmage images, etc.
It is said that Hongmeng OS 4.0 will have major design changes and more new functions will be added, so it will be a new beginning.
