TMC2100-LA motor driver chip
Stepper motors are popular for position control in computers and microcontrollers, such as CNC machines, robotics, industrial automation, 3D printers, and camera control. Stepper motors are deceptively simple due to their simple internal structure and limited number of connecting wires. It is common to see tutorials online on how to control stepper motors using old L293D driver ICs and Arduino, but their application depends on the quality and functionality of the motor driver.
Common stepper motor driver types - pluggable driver modules. Trinamic's TMC series is suitable for 3D printer pluggable driver modules, which are composed of a small PCB with a stepper motor driver IC and a pin header connector. The module can be plugged into a larger circuit board. SilentStepSticks built around Trinamic's series of stepper driver ICs, among which the TMC2100-LA chip is more popular with customers.
The TMC2100-LA motor driver chip is suitable for the motor driver field of 3D printing, cameras, scanners and other automation equipment. This chip has an integrated micro-stepping indexer and a completely noiseless current control mode StealthChop for driving bipolar stepper motors. Configured as a full H-bridge, the drive motor is the winding, and the output driver module is composed of a low RDSonN-channel power MOSFET. The TMC2100-LA is capable of driving up to 2.5A of current from each output drive (with proper heat dissipation). The device has a step and direction interface with configurable digital pins.
