With the rapid development of technology, robots have become an important indicator of competition among countries. In addition to traditional industrial robots, people have always been "entertained" by the research on quadruped robots. Various "robot dogs" are constantly being invented, and their functions are becoming more and more powerful. Today, the editor will take stock of the "robot dogs" in the two major camps of China and foreign countries to see which side is stronger?

Amazing jumping ability: Zhejiang University's "Jueying" robot dog
Zhejiang University's four-legged bionic robot "Jueying" has long been famous. "Jueying" is driven by an electric motor, has a maximum load of 20 kilograms, a maximum walking speed of 6 kilometers per hour, and a battery life of 2 hours. It has mastered many abilities such as running and jumping, climbing ladders, walking on gravel roads, squatting and standing up autonomously.
The technical advantages of "Jueying" are just as shown in the video. Its movements are natural and smooth, its reactions are fast and accurate, and it can show strong adaptability in the face of complex environments. Take "stepping on the steel pipe" as an example. "Jueying" made a decision at the moment when it was about to lose its balance after stepping on the steel pipe, and quickly adjusted its posture with a series of movements. This kind of performance that "even humans may not be able to do" depends on the efficient combination of system and control.
Excellent performance - Yushu Technology Laika Dog
The "Laika Dog", known as China's first quadruped robot, weighs only 22kg, but its self-developed motor system can output up to 18 kilowatts of instantaneous power. The power density is nearly twice that of a normal supercar, which is the basis of Laika Dog's powerful dynamic performance. In addition, Laika Dog has completely gotten rid of external power supply, and its own battery can support 2 to 3 hours of walking on a single charge.
Below is a test video shot by Yushu Technology imitating Boston Dynamics. In the video, Laika dog climbed up a slope, crossed a cobblestone road, and reproduced the classic scene of being kicked by the tester. Of course, the test result shows that Laika dog has excellent stability, just like Boston Dynamics' BigDog.
Nezha from Beili
Developed by the motion drive and control research team of Beijing Institute of Technology, Beili Nezha is a robot platform that can move with wheels, feet, and wheel-foot combined motion. The robot is 1.4 meters high, 1.2 meters long, 1.2 meters wide, weighs 160 kg, has a total power of 15 kW, and can carry a maximum of 300 kg. The endurance of foot motion is 1 hour, the endurance of wheel motion is 2 hours, and the endurance of wheel-foot combined motion is 45 minutes. It can be used in unmanned combat, emergency rescue, material transportation, resource exploration and other fields.
The robot can achieve four-wheel drive wheeled movement. The maximum movement speed can reach 30km/h, and the maximum climbing angle is 25°. The four wheels can rotate 45 degrees towards each other, realizing clockwise and counterclockwise rotation in place. The robot can walk on uneven ground through the tactile sensors installed on its feet.
Military dog - the four-legged "big dog" of the Northern Vehicle Research Institute
In September 2014, a 120kg military mountain quadruped bionic mobile platform developed by my country was first exposed by the media. This mountain quadruped robot was developed by the Weapon Ground Unmanned Platform Research and Development Center of the China North Vehicle Research Institute. The appearance of this type of robot dog indicates that China has been on par with the US military in the technology of military bionic robots and is following the US military's pace in practical progress.
This four-legged dog is mainly used for carrying materials, carrying and security in mountainous and hilly areas, and can undertake transportation, reconnaissance or strike missions. In addition, it can also play a role in disaster sites where road facilities are severely damaged. The platform weighs 130kg; mission carrying capacity: 50kg; maximum driving speed: 6km/(flat paved road); slope overcome: 30°; endurance: 2h.
“Cold on the outside, warm on the inside” - Shandong University’s robotic dog Billy
Among the four-legged robots of Shandong University Robotics Research Center, Billy, which is designed for scientific research and education platforms, has been industrialized. Billy's athletic ability is unmatched by domestic robots of the same level and size, whether in terms of balance, slope training, or adaptability. However, under the rough appearance, there is a "gentle" heart. Due to the high cost, this robot dog is mainly for scientific research and education. Children can talk to it, tell stories, and realize simple companionship functions. However, this appearance......
The high-dynamic servo pressure actuation technology on the robot dog has been applied in some other fields. Except for the engine, the quadruped robot developed and manufactured by Shandong University Robotics Research Center is independently developed. The performance of the core technology components can basically achieve 60%-80% of the performance of developed countries.
Foreign camp
Boston Dynamics Spotmini
SpotMini is a smaller version of Boston Dynamics' existing BigDog series of robots. It weighs about 25 kg (Alpha Dog is about 108 kg) and stands about 61 cm tall. Unlike the "Big Dog" that relies on hydraulics, it is fully electric and is also the quietest mechanical dog under BD. It can run for 90 minutes on a single charge.
