Zos Automotive Research Institute released the "Monthly Monitoring and Analysis Report on Intelligent In-Vehicle Information Systems - Issue 10, 2020", which mainly studies the following: Highlights of the Internet of Vehicles Information Service System at the 2020 Guangzhou Auto Show, Interpretation of the "Technical Roadmap for Intelligent Connected Vehicles (Version 2.0)", Tracking and interpretation of market data on intelligent in-vehicle information systems from January to October, and key industry news. It can be clearly seen from this monthly report that independent car manufacturers rely on new brands to accelerate intelligence, and joint venture brands cooperate with BATH to expand the localization process of the Internet of Vehicles ecosystem.

The keynote of independent car manufacturers is still brand upgrading. Following a series of new brands such as Geely Lynk & Co, Great Wall WEY, Dongfeng Lantu, and BAIC New Energy ARCFOX, GAC, Changan, and SAIC released new brands at the Guangzhou Auto Show, continuing to explore upward through independent brands. The new brands bear the heavy responsibility of intelligence and networking.

Domestic car manufacturers rely on new brands to accelerate intelligentization

GAC, Changan, and SAIC launch new brands

GAC Aion brand operates independently

In November 2020, GAC announced that its "GAC Aion" brand would operate independently, and GAC New Energy Automobile Co., Ltd. was renamed GAC Aion New Energy Automobile Co., Ltd., and the fourth model under the Aion brand, Aion Y, was released on the same day. Aion has brought together partners such as Huawei (Balong 5000 5G chip), Tencent (ADiGO IoT system, Tencent Maps, Tencent Dingdang Voice, in-car WeChat, QQ Music, Tencent Radio, etc.), AutoNavi (Maps), iFlytek (Voice), etc., to enhance its intelligence through AR navigation, integrated connected screen, 5G, L3 autonomous driving, etc.

Aion Y key highlights include:

Equipped with ADiGO 3.0 autonomous driving system (Level 3)

Equipped with 5G and V2X in-vehicle intelligent communication systems, based on the Balong 5000 5G chip, the latency is only 2% of 4G

It can realize vertical and horizontal parking and exit, supports full-scene intelligent parking such as ramp, diagonal and intelligent tracking parking, and can also summon or remotely park within 6 meters.

    Changan's new brand CHN

On November 14, 2020, Changan Automobile announced that it will join hands with Huawei and CATL to create a new high-end smart car brand. The new brand includes a smart electric vehicle platform CHN, a series of smart car products and a "people, cars and homes" smart life and smart energy ecosystem.

The smart electric vehicle platform CHN is named after the initials of the three companies. The "CHN platform" will be equipped with Huawei's smart cockpit platform CDC, smart driving platform MDC and some three-electric components.

CDC is Huawei's smart cockpit platform, or smart cockpit domain controller. It integrates automotive-grade Kirin chips, Hongmeng OS operating system, HiCar car-machine interconnection, 5G car modules and other flagship products, which can realize the sharing of hardware, software and application ecology between smart cars and smartphones, and realize many scene-oriented in-car functions. In addition, CDC's single-chip solution makes it easier to create interconnection functions such as one chip with multiple screens and multi-screen interaction.

MDC is Huawei's intelligent driving platform, namely the autonomous driving domain controller. It integrates the autonomous driving computing platform MDC, the high-level autonomous driving solution ADS, and Huawei's self-developed sensors.

The first mass-produced car from the tripartite cooperation is expected to be launched in 2022. Changan Automobile plans to launch 105 models in the next five years, and the new brand based on CHN and the UNI series are expected to become the backbone.

In terms of vehicle architecture, Changan's latest Ark architecture covers all models from A0 to C. In terms of autonomous driving, the core layout of the Ark architecture reserves 36 sensors (6 millimeter-wave radars, 13 cameras, 5 lidars, 12 ultrasonic radars), high-precision maps and positioning, 5G-V2X modules, 2 high-computing domain controllers, redundant braking, redundant steering and redundant power supplies. On the basis of achieving mass production of L3 conditional autonomous driving, it can support more autonomous driving scenarios and higher levels of autonomous driving in the future.

The laser radar used in the Changan Ark architecture is expected to be a semi-solid laser radar launched by Huawei, with a horizontal field of view of 140°. SAIC Zhiji Auto On November 26, 2020, SAIC Group, Pudong New Area and Alibaba Group jointly established the Zhiji Auto brand, and have obtained a first round of financing of over 10 billion yuan from the above three parties. Zhiji Auto was formerly SAIC Group's "No. 1 Project" code-named "L", which has been in preparation since 2018. SAIC's other high-end brand is called "R", which echoes "L" on the left and right.

In January 2021, Zhiji Auto's first model will be released simultaneously in Shanghai, London, and CES in North America. Its autonomous valet parking function is expected to be launched in some business districts in Shanghai by the end of 2021, and will be expanded to other first-tier cities and new first-tier cities in 2022. By the end of 2021, Zhiji Auto will also realize the Door to Door Pilot (autonomous driving from home to work and business district) function.

    Features of the first model:

    Positioning car

    Triple screen design, SOTA

    100m acceleration <4 seconds

    Supercomputing Center Intelligent Cockpit

The maximum range is about 1,000 km and zero attenuation is 200,000 km.

Equipped with wireless charging technology, maximum power 11kW

Equipped with a redundant hardware and software architecture solution compatible with LiDAR

Currently, the Zhiji Auto project team has more than 200 people, more than 50% of whom are from SAIC Group. The team will reach 300 people by the end of 2020 and will expand several times by the end of 2021. In addition, SAIC has introduced a new organizational structure for it, allowing it to be listed independently in the future.

In December 2020, Great Wall Motors was revealed to be planning to launch a new independent brand of smart electric vehicles, tentatively named "Salon Automobile", internally code-named "SL Project", and its products will compete with new brands such as NIO and Ideal.

So far, the new brand team of independent car manufacturers has been assembled, and they are all aligned with "intelligence". High-level autonomous driving, smart cockpit, domain controller, platform architecture, software-defined car, 5G, OTA, etc. have become basic configurations.

Joint venture brands such as Volvo, BMW, and Audi are expanding the localization process of the Internet of Vehicles ecosystem

Joint venture brands are paying more attention to the localization of the Internet of Vehicles ecosystem. Mainstream joint venture brands such as BMW and Volkswagen, as well as luxury brands such as Maserati and Maybach have all cooperated with local Chinese technology companies. BATH (Baidu, Alibaba, Tencent, Huawei) remains a popular partner.
