3. Horizon 2020 has achieved fruitful results
In terms of mass production, Horizon Robotics has also achieved impressive results:
In addition to Changan UNI-T, the Chery Ant pure electric SUV was officially launched at the Beijing Auto Show in September this year. The new car is also equipped with the second-generation Journey chip. Thanks to this, the Chery Ant also has L2+ autonomous driving capabilities.
Horizon also revealed that six mass-produced models equipped with Horizon's in-vehicle AI chips will be launched this year.
In general, in terms of ADAS applications in the intelligent driving domain and human-computer interaction applications in the intelligent cockpit domain, the Journey 2 chip has successfully signed double-digit mass-produced designated vehicle models.
"We expect the overall shipments of Journey 2 to exceed 100,000 this year, and we are now striving to achieve the goal of 150,000 units. This shipment volume is a great achievement for a company that just achieved mass production of automotive-grade AI chips at the beginning of the year. Next year, our shipment volume is expected to be greater than 500,000 units, and will exceed one million units in 2022." Earlier, Horizon Vice President Zhang Yufeng said.
In addition, the cooperation between Horizon and OEMs is becoming increasingly close.
At present, Horizon has reached in-depth cooperation in the field of intelligent driving with Audi, FAW Hongqi, SAIC Group, GAC Group, Changan Automobile, BYD, Ideal Auto and other car manufacturers, covering most of the independent brands, and plans to enter joint venture brands in the future.
At this year's Beijing Auto Show, GAC Research Institute signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Horizon Robotics and jointly released the customized version of GAC Journey 3.
Earlier in August, Horizon also signed a contract with SAIC Group to jointly build an artificial intelligence joint laboratory, and the research and development results will be first applied in SAIC's new cars.
In addition, Horizon Robotics has reached a strategic cooperation with FAW Intelligent Connected Vehicle Development Institute and jointly built an integrated AI platform with FAW Nanjing.
The flexible cooperation model not only helps industry partners create differentiated products, but also reflects Horizon's strong empowerment capabilities.
4. Summary
Although Tesla's model is difficult to replicate, and its investment in software and hardware and R&D results cannot be caught up overnight, this does not mean that other car companies have no ability to fight back against Tesla's offensive.
Previously, Professor Zhao Fuquan, Dean of the Institute of Automotive Industry and Technology Strategy at Tsinghua University, talked about the transformation of traditional automobiles and said: Traditional automobiles must realize that the development of smart cars is the general direction, and companies must find entry points based on their own capabilities and quickly embrace software-defined cars.
More and more cases show that car companies have realized the change in the direction of the tide and have made a series of responses. Although they started late, they can still ride the waves as long as they find their own positioning, whether through self-research or making friends.
