TUV Rheinland issues product privacy protection certification to Hisense smart TV
The EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) was implemented on May 25, 2018. Its core requirement is to respect and protect users' personal privacy and ensure the security of user data. Since smart products interact directly with users and are the entry point for obtaining users' personal data, individual users and buyers in the EU are increasingly concerned about whether smart products comply with GDPR requirements. If a product fails to meet data protection requirements, it is likely to face fines from the EU Data Protection Commission and will also affect the recognition of the product by EU buyers.
TUV Rheinland has been conducting in-depth research since the GDPR was first promulgated. Based on the requirements of the GDPR and combined with its own rich experience in the field of information security, it has developed the technical standard 2PfG 2624 to provide global companies with product privacy protection assessment services and product penetration testing services to help them minimize risks in the field of data protection.
In this certification project, TUV Rheinland evaluated and verified Hisense Android Smart TV and VIDAA Smart TV according to the 2PfG 2624 standard, as well as the requirements of the European Telecommunications Standards Institute ETSI TS 103645 standard and California Consumer Privacy Act Assembly Bill 375. The results showed that the products' privacy protection and data security in terms of data flow, network transmission, document recording and functional design have reached international leading levels.
Dr. Chen Weikang said at the awarding ceremony: "The development strategy of building a company based on technology and operating steadily is the secret of Hisense's building a leading Chinese and world-renowned large-scale electronic information company. Over the past 20 years, TUV Rheinland has established a long-term and stable cooperative relationship with Hisense, providing all-round support for its product safety, quality, and information security. In the future, we will continue to fully assist Hisense in product upgrades and technological innovations in various business areas, and better help Hisense create products that satisfy consumers."
As a leading global technical service provider, TUV Rheinland has nearly 20 years of experience in the field of information security. It is committed to helping companies identify and avoid compliance risks of smart products and mobile applications, responding to EU regulatory requirements and buyer needs with professional assessment reports, and also providing use cases and guidance for new product development, helping manufacturers provide end consumers with a better user experience.
