Charging is an inseparable topic for electric vehicles. Batteries are the core components of new energy vehicles. For electric vehicles, how much power should be charged? According to the battery technology used in current electric vehicles, the amount of charge depends on the vehicle usage scenario. For electric vehicles, it is not necessary to fully charge. Reaching more than 90% or the mileage that can meet your next travel needs is enough.
Electric vehicles now use lithium-ion batteries. Lithium-ion power batteries have no memory function and can meet the needs of fast charging. However, from the perspective of battery structure, the best state of battery charging is basically around 40% to 80%. For rechargeable batteries, shallow charging and shallow discharge have a long life. If you always charge and discharge between 20%-80%, your life will be very long!
Because lithium batteries are counted as one cycle when they are 100% used, not when they are charged. For example, if I use 20% of the battery this time and then charge it to 80%, then the next time I use 80% of the battery, it will be counted as one cycle. It has nothing to do with your current battery level. For lithium-ion batteries in vehicles, maintaining moderate charging and discharging of the battery can extend the battery life. This means that when charging the battery, it is not necessary to reach the maximum value. This can avoid the early capacity loss of the battery and avoid over-discharging.
Finally, from the perspective of the battery, the charging state and temperature determine the speed of battery aging. The correct charging method and charging time can directly affect the battery life. You should develop the habit of charging frequently when using the car. Don't wait for a long time, charge when the battery is low, or overcharge.
