At present, the companies that are facing the challenge of Europe's strict carbon emission requirements are mainly Volkswagen, PSA, Nissan Renault and Hyundai, which have a certain market share in Europe and need more transformation. In terms of selling affordable electric vehicles, Hyundai and Kia are also trying various strategies.

As shown in the figure below, Hyundai Kia is trying to make sedans by integrating HEV, PHEV and BEV into the previous Ioniq. Since the battery energy is too small, the Ioniq EV will be upgraded later. As for sedans, the modified pure electric models of the Picanto microcar and the Stinger sports car are also tried at a relatively low investment cost.

The KP1 and KP2 platforms for sedans have very limited battery capacity.

The main N, M and M2 platforms are mainly developed around PHEV

Hyundai Kia is really trying to make pure electric SUVs

KONA and Niro, these two pure electric vehicles use similar powertrains and their performance is pretty good. Later, Kia added Stonic EV, hoping to occupy this series of small SUV market and launch a series of models under different brands.

For slightly larger SUVs, Hyundai and Kia all use PHEV

Try a large SUV with better mileage

At CES, Hyundai Kia announced its proprietary vehicle platform, which was renamed from the previous EP1 to EGMP (Electric-Global Modular Platform). It will mainly evolve on the previously segmented small and compact pure electric SUVs. No more detailed information is available at the moment.

Judging from the above considerations, Hyundai Kia's platform planning is still to create a proprietary platform for several cars within a very narrow range, mainly to optimize and improve pure electric vehicles on two segmented architectures, remove the previous fuel versions, HEV and PHEV constraints, and configure the parameters of electric vehicles as modularly as possible, including the concept of "Style Set Free".

Summary: You get what you pay for. Judging from Hyundai Kia's current pace, they are trying to sell electric vehicles in more regions. This is a direct competitor for our own brand as it goes global and sells electric vehicles in various regions.
