But on the other hand, their existence has restricted BAT's greed for data. With their mediation in this competition, at least there are not only two players, car manufacturers and BAT. The three parties are like rock, scissors, and paper in the game of rock-paper-scissors. There is room for maneuvering, and when the contradiction is absolutely opposite, it will not become a deadlock.

How can car manufacturers gain the right to speak in the field of Internet of Vehicles?
In recent years, car manufacturers' attitudes towards defining Internet of Vehicles functions have changed a lot. From the initial indifference to the current ambition, it can be seen that car manufacturers have begun to pay attention to the Internet of Vehicles and hope to gain more say. In my opinion, there are currently four coexisting paths.

1. Look for different Internet companies to cooperate with.

In order to test what users like, some car manufacturers often do not choose to cooperate with only one of BAT. For example, Ford has some models equipped with Zebra system, and some models are equipped with Xiaodu OS. For example, Great Wall, Haval H series products cooperate with Baidu, and F series products cooperate with Tencent.

This is even more true when it comes to integrating individual capabilities. BMW and Mercedes-Benz have almost integrated the individual capabilities of the three BAT companies.

2. Use your own ecosystem, not your own cloud.

SAIC, which is tied to Alibaba, chose Tencent for its cloud business; Ford, which is tied to Baidu, and its subsidiary Autonomic chose Alibaba for its car-connected cloud platform cloud business.

3. Establish your own automotive software department.

If you want to have more say, it is better to establish your own software department instead of giving the software definition rights to others.

This year, Volkswagen Group established an "Automotive Software Department" within the company. In the future, it will develop software functions for Volkswagen's various brands: operating system vw.OS, connected applications, smart body and cockpit, autonomous driving, vehicle and energy performance, as well as service platforms and travel services.

4. Establish capital links with external companies.

The decision-making process within car manufacturers is very long, and it is often difficult for them to establish new departments. Therefore, establishing a new company, directly invested by the car manufacturer and operated independently, can make progress faster. Ecarx, which relies on Geely, and Xiandou Intelligent, which relies on Great Wall, are such companies.

In summary,
BAT is constantly looking for more car company partners. Technology companies with outstanding single capabilities have set up special automotive departments, and car manufacturers are trying every means to form alliances among them in order to gain more control.

In this competition, we have seen many different forms of products come out and heard many good stories, which makes us full of hope for the intelligent direction of automobiles as mechanical hardware.

But this is not a great collective artistic creation, but rather a business.

So when we see a product, we must understand that it is the product of countless rock-paper-scissors games, and behind it lie things beyond the product, such as human nature, interests, relationships, etc.
