Great Wall Motors' GTO global smart ecosystem strategy was officially released at the Haval Technology Center in Baoding. Great Wall Motors announced that it will work with eight strategic partners, including Tencent, Alibaba, Baidu, China Telecom, China Unicom, China Mobile, Huawei and Qualcomm, to create a travel robot around the experience service of car-travel-life, and build the Great Wall Motors Totally Online (GTO: GreatWall Totally Online) smart ecosystem. It is understood that the robot will be based on 5G+AI technology and is designed to bring users a full life cycle experience and service.

Why are OEMs eyeing robots?

Although Great Wall Motors is an OEM, it is an automotive company that has been deeply engaged in intelligent networking for many years. At a time when technologies such as 5G, AI, and V2X are highly respected, Great Wall Motors realizes that the development of intelligent networked vehicles is ushering in new opportunities, and AI artificial intelligence cars that are smarter and better understand users will become an industry trend.

However, the fact is that even though the development of automobiles has been close to perfection, the limitation of not being able to understand all scenarios and serve user needs still exists, and it cannot pull away from smartphones in terms of human-car relationship and user experience. As we all know, the automobile industry can never use the methods of the previous era to solve the problems of the next era. The Chinese automobile industry is in urgent need of a leapfrog change. Therefore, Great Wall Motors has the intention to build a travel robot.

In the future, what can travel robots bring to users?

Great Wall Motors said that in the future, travel robots will mainly provide services to users in three aspects - AI life, AI partners, and AI travel.

AI life relies on transformable intelligent space to realize users' yearning for multi-tasking, multi-scenario and multi-experience anytime and anywhere; AI partner creates a close online partner, allowing the travel robot to become the user's driving assistant, emotional partner, travel secretary, and life assistant, sublimating the relationship between people and cars; AI travel will achieve full-domain and full-time online, and the aggregation of car service ecology, providing services throughout the life cycle.

In short, travel robots will provide users with an all-round, multi-level and all-the-time travel experience.

What does Great Wall Motors rely on?

1. Industry-leading intelligent network technology

As mentioned earlier, Great Wall Motors has been deeply involved in the field of intelligent networking for many years, and its research and development and application of intelligent networking technology has always been at the forefront of the industry. In terms of autonomous driving technology, Great Wall Motors first demonstrated L3 autonomous driving to the public in 2015; in 2017, it officially released the "i-Pilot Intelligent Navigation" autonomous driving system; in March last year, the 5G-based automatic remote driving technology jointly developed by Great Wall Motors, China Mobile and Huawei passed the test at the Great Wall Motors Xushui test site. In June this year, Great Wall Motors exhibited a number of "black technology" achievements at the fifth CES, including smart pixel headlights, vehicle health detection systems, and smart cockpits, providing a good technical foundation for building travel robots.

2. Excellent strategic partner

At the conference, Great Wall Motors officially signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Tencent, Alibaba, Baidu, China Telecom, China Unicom, China Mobile, Huawei and Qualcomm. With the support of major Internet and communications industry giants, Great Wall Motors will bid farewell to the era of traditional functional vehicles and usher in the era of travel robots.

Conclusion: As a leader of Chinese auto brands, Great Wall Motors also stated that in the future, Great Wall Motors will successively launch a series of products equipped with Internet ecology and release family technology brands based on intelligent technology, further leading the real implementation of intelligent connected vehicles in the entire automotive industry. It is believed that through this series of measures, Great Wall Motors' innovative advantages in new technologies will be more prominent, and will also further enhance Great Wall Motors' global competitiveness.
