Taiwan computer brand Acer continues to gain ground with gaming laptops, especially in the Americas, where it has secured the top market share in Brazil, the United States, Peru, and Colombia. Acer gaming laptops have dominated Brazil for more than 12 consecutive months, and in March this year, it achieved an ultra-high market share of 47.2%.
Acer analyzed that its market share performance in Brazil was mainly attributed to a series of successful marketing plans, promotional activities and strong retail relationships. In addition to sponsoring the leading local e-sports team in Brazil, Acer also held top e-sports parties at the Brazil Game Show (BGS), the largest gaming event in Latin America, to actively expand the e-sports market.
In addition, Acer's gaming laptops took the top spot in Colombia again in March this year, having first won the market share championship in the fourth quarter of last year. As for Peru, Acer has been sitting firmly on the championship throne since December 2017, and its current market share is still as high as 41%.
In the United States, Acer's performance has remained high since May 2018.
However, Acer Chairman Chen Junsheng has become more conservative in his attitude towards the global e-sports market, saying that with the rapid growth in the past two years, the subsequent growth momentum will not be able to replicate previous achievements.
Chen Junsheng pointed out that Acer's gaming laptop shipments grew by more than 30% year-over-year in 2018, and more than 70% in 2017. In order to develop new growth momentum, Acer has also developed the designer market.
