On November 5, Xinwanda said that it has further increased the energy density of solid-state batteries to 500Wh/kg by using lithium metal in the negative electrode, and currently has laboratory prototype samples. It is expected that the production of laboratory samples of all-solid-state batteries with an energy density greater than 700Wh/kg will be completed in 2027.

Solid-state batteries are getting closer
It is generally believed in the industry that commercial mass production of automotive-grade all-solid-state batteries will be after 2028. However, there are constant reports that solid-state batteries will be commercially mass-produced before 2028.
It is reported that CATL's all-solid-state batteries have entered the trial stage and are expected to achieve small-scale production in 2027.
Qingtao Energy's semi-solid-state batteries are installed in SAIC Zhiji models. The company is promoting the mass production of solid-state batteries at the "100,000-vehicle level" by 2025.
Yu Huigen, chairman of WeiLan New Energy, said that it is entirely possible to conduct small-scale verification of all-solid-state batteries on complete vehicles in 2027.

The capacity of Fudi's solid-state battery cells can reach more than 60Ah, the mass energy density can reach 400Wh/Kg, the volume energy density can reach 800Wh/L, and it will not catch fire or explode when punctured or in a hot box. At the same time, taking into account the battery system and vehicle efficient integration technology under the performance requirements of thermal management, safety, and fast charging, the battery pack energy density exceeds 280Wh/Kg.
In terms of cost control, the cost reduction plan for sulfide (or sulfide + halide composite) solid electrolytes, which account for the absolute cost proportion, is to reduce the cost of LiS by 1500%-2000% by 2027 compared with 2024. In 2030, through the improvement and optimization of the synthesis process, the cost will be reduced by another 30%-50% compared with 2027. In 2033, the cost will continue to be reduced by about 20%-30% through scale efficiency.
In terms of the cost of solid-state batteries, the overall material BOM cost is planned to be reduced by 2000%-3000% in 2027 through the cost reduction effect of solid-state electrolytes, and then the manufacturing cost will be reduced by 30%-50% by improving product yield + scale effect + process optimization, making it extremely price competitive.
In terms of the mass production schedule, it is consistent with national policies and most companies. Small-scale production will be carried out in 2027 and installed on BYD's high-end models as a demonstration project, with a scale of only about 1,000 units; 2030 is the market promotion period, and it is expected that 40,000 vehicles will be equipped with all-solid-state batteries, and will begin to move down to models in the mainstream price range; 2033 will enter a rapid expansion period, and it is expected that 120,000 vehicles will be installed on a large scale, and the market share of all-solid-state batteries will gradually increase.
