Guys, please help me find out what the problem is. [Copy link]

Our company makes Bluetooth headsets, and we have tested the current in various states using a Fluke multimeter. The results should be accurate and the headset should be able to last a week on standby. However, the battery ran out of power in less than 3 days. We suspect there is a problem with the firmware that causes the abnormal power consumption. How can we test and locate this problem?

Using a multimeter to measure requires a lot of testing skills, and it is required to test all working conditions. If the high power consumption condition is missed, the measured data will be useless even if it is correct. To determine whether the power consumption is abnormal, first roughly calculate based on the chip used and the whole circuit, and then compare it with the test data. If the difference is large, you can separate some circuits to see where the excess is.

Haha, it's of course a lot of trouble to use a multimeter to test this problem. If the company has money, buy a power monitor or Agilent's DC power analyzer, and the situation will be clear at a glance.

Regarding the power consumption issue, if you said that you have measured the current under various conditions, then there should not be this problem. I think you can try to capture the current situation for a longer period of time. The specific instrument to use depends on the situation of your own company.

Thanks for the guidance. I haven't used any special instruments, basically just an oscilloscope and a multimeter. Are the instruments recommended above reliable? Are they the kind that can capture current data?
