On October 18, China Daily reported that several people familiar with the matter revealed that the Chinese government supports Tesla to try out some FSD (Full-Self Driving) functions on the premise of complying with existing laws and regulations, but the introduction of FSD into China has not yet been approved by regulatory authorities and related evaluation work is still in progress.
According to reports, Musk had proposed to relevant departments that he hoped to directly obtain some non-sensitive video data for training its autonomous driving system. He also proactively suggested that a dedicated government team could conduct a comprehensive assessment of the video data to ensure data security.
According to IT Home, in September this year, Tesla's AI team released a roadmap for the deployment of FSD around the world. It is expected that FSD fully autonomous driving will be launched in China and Europe in Q1 next year, which is still awaiting regulatory approval.
Regarding this timeline, people familiar with the matter said: "Progress is not that fast." Currently, related work is still in the evaluation stage, and relevant departments are conducting intensive comprehensive research and in-depth analysis on multiple aspects such as autonomous driving technology, data security, laws and regulations, and technical standards.
