In the blink of an eye, Audi digital lighting has entered the 2.0 era. This generation of digital headlights has expanded the functional range and design freedom, and realized communication with the surrounding environment (Car-to-X). Of course, the most important thing is to improve road safety.

Compared with the first generation of products, the number of OLED panels has increased from 6 segments to 60 segments. Taking the Q6 e-tron as an example, a total of 6 panels with a total of 360 segments are used. The new electronic architecture controls all panels through computer modules.

According to Audi, the number of segments of each OLED panel will continue to increase in the future. Their vision is to gradually evolve into a display effect by increasing the number of segments, and to further improve communication between vehicles and enhance road safety by displaying relevant warning symbols.

Technically, the new taillight light source does not require additional reflectors and light guides. The extremely high contrast and uniform luminous properties allow engineers to break the boundaries of two-dimensional and three-dimensional design and create three-dimensional shapes on two-dimensional surfaces.

In version 1.0, in addition to being stylish and beautiful, the digital OLED taillight also has an important distance warning function, which can change the lighting effect to attract the attention of other road users and avoid rear-end collisions.

In version 2.0, the digital OLED taillights have added communication warning lights, which send warning signals to other road users by displaying warning symbols and regular taillight shapes. In addition, Audi's digital taillights are also highly integrated with the driver assistance system. Functions such as emergency braking prompts, stationary anti-rear-end collision prompts, hazard warning lights, and road rescue can all be displayed through the taillights to further improve safety.

Audi has also made innovations to the headlights. The 2.0 version of the digital headlights adopts a split design with a clearer shape. The daytime running lights and turn signals will become the main area for the digital display.

There are 70 LEDs in the new generation of daytime running lights. Designers designed them into precise prism structures, surrounded by metallic decorative panels, which can make the digital area more eye-catching when lit.

Taking the Audi Q6 e-tron as an example, the OLED digital headlights and taillights can display two styles under standard configuration, and users can customize them through the myAudi APP or MMI system.

The remaining 6 display styles need to be selected, including delayed lighting, automatic lighting of the welcome light when approaching the vehicle, etc. It looks good, but users still have to consider the price of the digital taillights. It is said that the first generation of digital taillights equipped on Audi Q5 cost nearly 80,000 yuan per pair, and this 2.0 version must be more expensive.
