Guangdong, China – August 21, 2023 – Today, Huizhou Huayang General Electronics Co., Ltd. (“Huayang General”) and BlackBerry announced that Huayang General has selected BlackBerry® as its next-generation digital cockpit partner, which is deployed in multiple models of multiple automakers including Great Wall Motors.
As part of the collaboration, Huayang General is using BlackBerry QNX® Neutrino® real-time operating system (RTOS) and QNX® Hypervisor to ensure the functional safety, network security and reliability of the digital cockpit, while helping automakers maintain excellent performance, integration and scalability in vehicle software development.
This collaboration is an important milestone in the more than ten-year partnership between Huayang General and BlackBerry. Previously, the two companies announced in January 2022 that they would jointly build a cockpit domain controller for a leading bus brand OEM.
Huayang General's new digital cockpit solution uses BlackBerry QNX to integrate multiple different operating systems and security level functions into the same comprehensive platform to provide users with a safe and rich driving experience. BlackBerry QNX also provides Huayang General with scalability and flexibility in digital cockpit design, thereby reducing initial development costs and long-term expenses.
Dhiraj Handa, Vice President of BlackBerry IoT (Internet of Things) Asia Pacific , said: "BlackBerry is a leader in safety-certified embedded automotive software with extensive expertise in software system solutions and a strong track record. We are pleased to continue to strengthen our collaboration with Huayang General, and both parties are redoubling their efforts to jointly create a new generation of digital cockpit systems to meet the evolving customer needs in the era of software-defined vehicles."
Chen Zhuo, Chief Engineer of Huayang General and Director of the Automotive Electronics Technology Research Institute said: "Huayang General is committed to becoming a leading automotive electronics supplier at home and abroad. Through this cooperation, Huayang General has received excellent support from BlackBerry in functional safety and network security. We can continue to expand our product portfolio in the field of smart cockpit and overall in-vehicle technology to create a smarter car journey for users."
