Expand cost-effective modular steering solutions
SHANGHAI , April 17, 2023 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, Nexteer Automotive Systems released the innovative modular rack electric power steering system (mREPS), expanding its cost-effective modular electric power steering system products that are flexible and effective It can meet the extensive needs of OEMs for advanced steering systems used in heavier vehicles such as electric vehicles and light commercial vehicles.
Leveraging Nexteer's existing, industry-leading electric power steering system building blocks, the modular rack-type electric power steering system increases the company's scalability while providing cost and time benefits for OEMs. , including shorter development time and higher vehicle platform component reuse rate.
Nexteer's modular rack-type electric power steering is equipped with a full-circle controller assembly. It has a compact layout and is designed for Level 3 to Level 5 advanced driving assistance defined by the Society of Automated Engineers (SAE, originally translated as the Society of Automotive Engineers). Systems (ADAS) enable advanced safety and reliability. In addition, the product enables flexible steering through custom-developed high-performance torque and position sensors.
"The introduction of Nexteer's modular rack-type electric power steering system further expands our platform to provide OEMs with performance-, cost- and time-effective solutions." Global Vice President, Asia Pacific, Nexteer Automotive Systems District President Li Jun said, "The modular rack-type electric power steering system utilizes Nexteer's existing, industry-leading electric power steering building blocks to create a more optimized solution that improves safety, comfort, and Convenience and efficiency. The timing of our launch of this product is very good, because the automotive industry in the Asia-Pacific and even the world is transitioning to electrification, and everyone needs a single, cost-effective, innovative steering solution, and this solution must be applicable to all Electric vehicles, internal combustion engine vehicles and hybrid vehicle platforms."
Nexteer’s complete global electric power steering portfolio
Nexteer's modular rack-type electric power steering system is the company's second modular steering product design after launching the modular column-type electric power steering system (mCEPS) in October 2021 .
In addition to modular rack-type and modular column-type electric power steering systems, Nexteer offers a complete portfolio of electric power steering systems to meet the steering needs of vehicles of all sizes, from small cars to heavy-duty pickup trucks and light commercial vehicles. The company's other products include steer-by-wire, rack-type electric power steering systems, dual-pinion electric power steering systems, single-pinion electric power steering systems and column-type electric power steering systems. Nexteer also offers high-output and high-availability options for electric power steering systems. High-output electric power steering increases steering load, allowing heavier vehicles such as electric vehicles to use electronic power steering and achieve advanced safety, comfort, fuel economy, and more. The high-availability electric power steering system ensures that the steering safety network is always on through intelligent optimized software design and hardware redundancy for simultaneous multi-path processing.
Nexteer is the global leader in electric power steering systems, serving more than 60 customers around the world. In 2022, the company has produced more than 90 million electric power steering systems globally.
