Compared with the multi-chip solution, the single-chip solution has a higher degree of internal resource sharing. Computing resources and storage resources such as CPU, NPU, and GPU can be fully shared. Sensor data from driving cameras and parking cameras can also be reused and shared. It can significantly improve resource utilization and reduce the material cost of the entire system. Some people believe that a single SoC chip solution can reduce hardware costs by 50%.
It is generally believed in the industry that in the short to medium term, integrated domain controllers with large computing power will continue to use multi-SoC chip solutions, while lightweight integrated domain controllers will gradually adopt single SoC chip solutions.
The lightweight integrated parking and parking system is mainly used in the mid- to low-end car market, which is still a blue ocean market. Autohome data shows that models priced at around RMB 100,000 to RMB 200,000 account for more than 50% of China’s passenger car market and are the car purchase price chosen by most consumers. In addition to J3, Horizon's J5 is also deploying a single SoC integrated parking system. Horizon said that this solution can support BEV algorithm models and is targeted at mid-to-high-end new energy vehicles. Black Sesame Intelligence has also developed an autonomous driving algorithm on the A1000, which can meet functions such as high-speed NOA and memory parking. It is expected to be mass-produced this year.
It is not difficult to see that the layout of chip manufacturers has a trend of sprinting from the low-end market to the mid-to-high end.
Before Hao Mo Zhixing, some Tier 1s have successively launched integrated parking and parking solutions based on single chips. For example, Hongjing Zhijia has released the industry's first single-journey 3-in-1 parking and parking solution, which can realize lane-level navigation and paddle shifters. Parking functions such as lane-changing automatic auxiliary parking and remote control parking can also be upgraded to memory parking in the future, covering models within 150,000 yuan. It is expected to be mass-produced in the second quarter of 2023. New Technology also launched a single SoC chip integrated solution based on Texas Instruments TDA4.
Hao Mo Zhixing previously used Qualcomm's self-driving chips. This time it uses Horizon J3, which may indicate that domestic self-driving chips are gaining favor from Tier 1 and OEMs.
The lightweight travel and parking system itself has a huge market space, giving domestic chip manufacturers the opportunity to get on board. Moreover, domestic autonomous driving chip technology is developing rapidly, and there are flexible and highly customized cooperation methods that foreign-funded enterprises cannot achieve. In addition to Haomo Intelligent Technology, Tier 1 companies such as Hongjing Zhijia, Freetech, and Heduo Technology have also cooperated with Horizon. Black Sesame Intelligent’s flagship product A1000 has currently won Dongfeng Passenger Car’s first electric sedan and first pure electric vehicle. Two SUV models, models under the Sihao brand of Jiangxi Automobile Group, etc.
This year, there may be more good news for domestic self-driving chips.
