There are still many obstacles before the emerging technology of self-driving passenger and commercial vehicles becomes popular. According to foreign media reports, transportation researchers at the University of Alabama (UA) have developed a promising low-cost system that can deal with the problem of GPS hackers navigating self-driving vehicles to the wrong destination.

Preliminary research suggests that self-driving cars could use sensors already installed to detect the wrong route when passengers are unaware of the route change, thereby preventing erroneous GPS signals from being sent to the vehicle.
