What is the future of autonomous driving? Mouser EIT plans to explore AI-based driver monitoring systems
August 17, 2022 – Mouser Electronics, the industry’s leading New Product Introduction (NPI) distributor with the broadest selection of semiconductors and electronic components™, has released a new episode of its Empowering Innovation Together™ program. This episode will explore the importance of driver monitoring systems in detecting signs of driver fatigue or distraction, as well as other occupant conditions, to help improve the safety required for Level 3+ autonomous driving. As the fourth in the 2022 EIT series, this issue includes two articles, a blog, an infographic, and a new episode of the "Tech Between You and Me" podcast and the "Past, Present, and Future" video.
In this issue, the Driver Monitoring Systems topic describes how new user interfaces can be used to monitor the condition of the driver and passengers to improve driving safety. In-cabin monitoring systems can detect whether the driver is distracted or tired, as well as the presence and condition of other passengers, and alert the driver when necessary.
"As autonomous vehicles become more prevalent, the safety of vehicles and their passengers becomes increasingly important," said Jiping Tian, Vice President of Marketing and Business Development for Mouser Asia Pacific. "Through the EIT series, we hope to share the knowledge and experience of industry experts to help our customers and fans understand this technology and its importance."
In a new episode of the Tech in the Motion podcast, Modar Alaoui, founder and CEO of Eyeris, joins host Raymond Yin, director of technical content at Mouser Electronics, to discuss in-car driver monitoring systems, as well as the technology-related regulations and the hardware and software behind these systems.
“I am excited to join Raymond and the Mouser audience to discuss the incredible developments in in-car vision AI and the potential this groundbreaking technology has to revolutionize the way we interact with our vehicles and how they protect us,” said Alaoui.
This issue’s Driver Monitoring Systems theme is sponsored by Analog Devices, Infineon Technologies, Molex, NXP Semiconductors, ON Semiconductor, and TE Connectivity.
Since its launch in 2015, Mouser's Empowering Innovation Together program has become one of the most well-known and market-recognized promotional programs in the electronic components industry.
