As a global leading commercial vehicle battery technology provider, Microvast Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ: MVST) recently announced the launch of two new lithium battery cell products and an upgraded fourth-generation battery pack.

Microvast's new 48Ah and 53.5Ah ternary lithium cells are tailored to meet the various technical requirements of commercial vehicles and special vehicles. The different power and energy requirements of different models make it more challenging to optimize battery design. The two new soft-pack cells are the same size and can both be integrated into Microvast's new fourth-generation battery pack. This flexible design concept allows customers to freely choose between high-power or high-energy standardized battery solutions without changing the powertrain design, providing customers with a one-stop solution for a variety of applications.

"The new battery enables our customers to easily optimize vehicle design in terms of energy density and cycle life, improve overall vehicle performance, and reduce total application cost while maintaining fast charging capabilities. We expect the new generation of battery products to become the main force driving our business growth in the future." said Mr. Yang Wu, President and CEO of Microvast Holdings.

Microhong 48Ah, 53.5Ah cells and fourth-generation battery packs are available for sample ordering starting today. They are expected to be put into mass production in 2023. The main parameters of the new products are shown in the figure below:

Compared with the previous generation, the MpCO-48Ah cell has a 10% increase in energy density (205 Wh/kg) and features 3C fast charging capability and a cycle life of over 7,000 times. The HpCO-53.5Ah cell has an exceptional 235 Wh/kg energy density and a cycle life of over 5,000 times, while still offering 1C fast charging performance.

Compared with the third generation, the fourth generation battery pack is similar in size, but the energy and power are increased by 20%. In addition, the new generation battery pack has enhanced the design of safety functions at the module and system levels, thereby improving the thermal management performance of the battery pack. It is worth mentioning that Microvast's fourth generation battery pack meets the battery standards of various parts of the world, and the next step will be to complete the battery certification work in various places according to demand.
