It is reported that the 4D imaging millimeter wave radar newly developed by Huayu Automotive Electronics is expected to be mass-produced in the fourth quarter of this year. Previously, Huayu Automotive 4D imaging radar relied on a dedicated radar MCU (microcontroller unit) to achieve 4D imaging function. While achieving high performance, it has lower cost, lower power consumption, and smaller size, and can be put on the market faster.

"Traditional millimeter-wave radars have low angular resolution, especially in the height direction, and are difficult to distinguish static obstacles, including surrounding flyovers, road signs, speed bumps, metal plates and other objects." A relevant person in charge of HUAYU Automotive said, "In order to avoid misoperation of AEB, the solution of traditional radars is to estimate the target height by counting multiple measurement results, but this is not real-time and accurate."

Once an object is detected, the 4D imaging radar can directly measure the height of the object, and the radar point cloud reflects the outline of the object. Compared with traditional millimeter-wave radar, the real-time performance and accuracy are greatly improved. 4D imaging millimeter-wave radar can not only measure two-dimensional plane information such as distance, speed, and azimuth, but also measure the height and pitch angle of the object, outlining the outline of the identified object in three-dimensional space.
