According to foreign media reports, in order to further improve vehicle and road safety, DAF Trucks, a well-known European commercial vehicle manufacturer, has launched an upgraded AEBS (Automatic Emergency Braking) system for the LF, CF and XF full series of models: AEBS-3. This third-generation advanced emergency braking system can fully realize automatic emergency braking to help avoid collisions with stationary vehicles and moving vehicles at speeds of up to 80 km/h, and this safety system is combined with the adaptive cruise control system (ACC) and forward collision warning (FCW) system.

In the next generation of AEBS, DAF Trucks uses a high-precision dual radar with 16 antennas (previously 7) for close and long-range detection. And the system is equipped with the best long-range sensor in the industry, with a detection range of up to 250 meters (previously 200 meters), so that potentially dangerous situations can be identified earlier. The system has an unparalleled 120-degree (previously 50-degree) close-range viewing angle, which enables earlier detection even in adverse weather conditions such as fog and low light, as well as in low visibility.

The AEBS system works with the vehicle's braking and stability control systems to provide the driver with instructions to react to an impending potential collision through audible and visual alerts and firm haptic brake pulses. If the driver does not react, the truck automatically initiates emergency braking to avoid or mitigate the effects of a rear-end collision.

Top speed: 80 km/h

AEBS-3 features fully autonomous emergency braking to help avoid collisions with stationary and moving vehicles at speeds up to 80 km/h. Therefore, if the driver is not aware of the hazardous situation, AEBS-3 will automatically reduce the speed of the vehicle's impact with a moving or stationary object in front as much as possible.

AEBS-3 is standard on all DAF LF, CF and XF truck models. The introduction of the more advanced AEBS-3 system once again demonstrates DAF Trucks’ outstanding capabilities in ensuring safety.
