According to foreign media reports, Tata Elxsi, a subsidiary of Tata Group, has developed a new smart parking solution that can help drivers save time and avoid the trouble of finding parking spaces.

Tata Elxsi has developed smart parking solutions such as advanced parking assistance systems and automatic parking in collaboration with top global OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers. It has also developed an autonomous driving platform, Autonomai. As part of this platform, the company has developed two smart automatic parking solutions - Park By Memory and Parking Slot Detection.
Park By Memory (PBM) is a technology in which the driver trains the car how to park in restricted areas such as narrow roads or crowded parking lots. The system learns the parking maneuvers performed by the user and then automatically follows the same parking route next time.
Parking Slot Detection (PSD) helps the driver locate an empty parking space by detecting parking lines and checking the occupancy of the parking space. The system can then generate multiple paths for the detected empty parking space (front-in parking/rear-in parking and front-out parking/rear-out parking), and then work with the parking assist system to automatically complete parking.
With this smart parking technology, coupled with the promotion of smart mobile applications, real-time data transmission and suitable infrastructure, drivers can reduce the time spent looking for available parking spaces. In urban areas, drivers usually spend a lot of time looking for available parking spaces. As urban centers expand and develop and become smart cities in the future, there is a need for parking systems that can combine smart parking infrastructure with advanced parking assistance systems in vehicles through the Internet of Things.
Therefore, Tata Elxsi is also further developing automatic valet parking (AVP) and infrastructure-based parking technology, the latter of which enables the vehicle to communicate with the parking infrastructure to determine empty parking spaces. The automatic valet parking technology can automatically park the car after the driver gets out of the car. The system can automatically identify empty parking spaces and park automatically. When the user returns, the vehicle can also be summoned remotely to pick up the user.
