Huawei is making inroads into the automotive industry with its powerful 5G capabilities.

Recently, Huawei, together with 18 automobile companies including FAW Group (FAW Hongqi, FAW Bestune, FAW Jiefang), Changan Automobile, Dongfeng Group (Dongfeng Passenger Vehicle, Dongfeng Xiaokang), SAIC Group (SAIC Passenger Vehicle, SAIC-GM-Wuling), GAC Group (GAC New Energy), BAIC Group (BAIC New Energy), BYD, Great Wall Motor, Chery Holdings, JAC Motors, Yutong (bus), SERES, Nanjing Iveco, and T3 Mobility, officially announced the establishment of the "5G Automotive Ecosystem".

It is reported that Huawei established the 5G ecosystem this time in the hope of leveraging the advantages of its incremental components, the 1+8+N full-scenario experience for consumers, and the capabilities of 5G network solutions, to contribute more technologies, platforms, and creativity to ecosystem partners, and to serve car companies in a more systematic way to carry out innovative verification of 5G vehicles.

In fact, for Huawei, 5G technology can be said to be the foundation for its entry into the automotive industry. The reason is that among Huawei's five major businesses, except for smart electric, the other four businesses must rely on communication technology, and 5G's high bandwidth, low latency, and high reliability also play a decisive role in the future development of the smart car industry.

Take autonomous driving as an example. If you want to achieve perfect autonomous driving, the first thing you need to do is to build a network environment that can download more than 1GB of data in 1 second. At the same time, since the amount of data that autonomous driving cars need to collect is very large, 4G networks are often unable to meet the demand. Therefore, only 5G technology that can achieve a speed of 20gbps can complete the data download and related processing problems of unmanned vehicles during driving, and thus achieve perfect autonomous driving.

In addition, 5G is more likely to play a role first in the implementation scenarios of the Internet of Vehicles, including vehicle-to-vehicle connectivity and vehicle-to-the-outside-world connectivity (V2X), especially in the V2X process where vehicles and road elements frequently exchange information.

5G's high bandwidth, low latency, and high reliability can fundamentally break through the limitations of time, quantity, space, and role in the transmission of information between machines. In the future, 5G technology will become an important component and carrier foundation for the integrated perception system, information interaction system, and intelligent computing system of intelligent connected vehicles.

Of course, Huawei's strength in 5G is unquestionable.

According to Huawei Chairman Liang Hua, Huawei has more than 50 partners around the world and has signed more than 30 5G commercial contracts. More than 30,000 5G base stations have been shipped around the world.

At the same time, Huawei's strength in 5G is not limited to one aspect, but almost covers core technologies such as chips and base stations. In addition, Huawei is currently the only manufacturer in the industry that can provide end-to-end products and solutions, and its technology maturity is at least 12-18 months ahead of its peers.

In the automotive industry, since the release of the world's first 5G vehicle-mounted module MH5000 in April last year, Huawei has provided products and technologies such as the 5G vehicle-mounted module MH5000 and 5G vehicle-mounted terminal T-Box platform to ecosystem partners and many automobile companies to support the application innovation of 5G vehicles and 5G+C-V2X intelligent networking.

At present, 5G cars have become the strategic commanding heights and innovation hotspots for the development of the automotive industry. 5G technology will open up new imagination space for scenarios such as intelligent networking, intelligent transportation, and autonomous driving. At the same time, the new driving experience, entertainment experience, and full-scenario experience of people, cars, and homes that consumers can perceive will also be the innovation focus of future 5G cars, and it is also the direction that many automakers and Huawei are working together to develop.

Based on this, we have to say that Huawei's establishment of the 5G ecological alliance is smart. Through the long-term operation and communication and interaction of the ecosystem platform, Huawei can be said to have almost mastered the commanding heights of 5G technology in the domestic automotive industry, which also echoes Huawei's concept of "focusing on ICT technology to help car companies build good cars and build better cars."
