Recently, the national finals of the "Core Innovation Cup" Future Car Human-Computer Interaction Design Competition for Colleges and Universities came to a successful conclusion at the 2019 Intelligent Connected Car Driving Competition and 2019 Intelligent Connected Car Technology Conference in Guangzhou. Eight teams from Tsinghua University, Tongji University, Beijing Institute of Technology, Central South University, Zhengzhou University, and Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications took the stage of the national finals and competed in the form of public defense. In the end, the DSP Interaction Design Team of Beijing Institute of Technology won the gold medal in the finals with the interactive system designed for shared cars in the driverless era. The silver medal was won by the TJ Night Owl Team of Tongji University and the Fun-Zo Team of Tsinghua University. Their works were the interactive design and implementation of the external screen of the driverless car based on the simulated driver and the travel AR shared interactive space. The bronze medals were won by the Yezhizhi Team from Tongji University, the Wushui Team from Beijing Institute of Technology, and the TRL Team from Central South University. Their works were the in-vehicle three-dimensional panoramic surround view system, the REM in-vehicle sleep system, and the new car side mirror and door warning system based on image processing. The Lezhixing team from Zhengzhou University and the Zhimeng Technology team from Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications won the Excellence Award. Their works were respectively an assisted driving system for multimodal analysis of driver emotions and a multimodal human-vehicle interaction system based on machine learning.
As one of the organizers of the competition, Cypress Semiconductor provided full support for the "Core Innovation Cup" Future Car Human-Computer Interaction Design Competition for Colleges and Universities. The competition was launched in May 2019 and lasted for more than 7 months. It attracted more than 600 teams composed of students from various domestic colleges and universities to sign up for the competition. Many teams are cross-disciplinary teams with a variety of topic types. After online submission and preliminary selection, the entries were held in the North China Division, Central and Western China Division, East China and South China Division, and the finals and expert on-site defense were held. Finally, these 8 teams were selected to participate in the finals. The process of the competition is also a process of continuous learning and improvement for the participating teams. Looking at the works of the winning teams, some works have designed human-computer interaction for the imagination of future cars, some works apply new technologies to human-computer interaction in cars, and some works find that the current cars encounter pain points during use and try to solve them by improving human-computer interaction, which fully demonstrates the innovative thinking of young students, the spirit of teamwork, hard work, and the ability to mobilize resources and solve problems.

Li Hongyan, deputy secretary-general of the Automotive Electronics Industry Alliance, the organizer of the competition, said that he was very happy to see such fruitful results in the 2019 "Xinchuang Cup" First College Future Car Human-Computer Interaction Design Competition. The national finals of the "Xinchuang Cup" held at the 2019 Intelligent Connected Vehicle Technology Conference in Guangzhou also have profound significance. The jury of the finals is composed of senior experts from authoritative third-party institutions, vehicle manufacturers, universities and solution providers. The participating teams and instructors are from well-known universities across the country. This is not only an interpretation of the theme of the conference "Connecting the World with Cars, Creating a Better Future", but also a strong proof of the goal of the competition "Promoting collaborative innovation in the automotive industry in the intelligent era".
Wen Junpei, director of the Automotive Electronics Division at Cypress Semiconductor, who served as one of the judges of the finals, said that Cypress is very pleased to cooperate with the Automotive Electronics Industry Alliance to host the 2019 "Xinchuang Cup" First College Future Automotive Human-Computer Interaction Design Competition. By holding this competition, more comprehensive talents that meet the needs of the industry can be discovered and cultivated. As a leading supplier of advanced embedded system solutions, Cypress has innovative semiconductor technologies and rich application cases that can help young students broaden their minds and horizons and help them grow faster.
The "Core Innovation Cup" competition is jointly sponsored by the Automotive Electronics Industry Alliance and CCID Media, and co-organized by China Computer News and Cypress Semiconductor Technology Co., Ltd. It aims to promote the development of cross-disciplinary subjects in automotive human-computer interaction, cultivate and tap more innovative talents, and contribute to the collaborative innovation of the automotive industry in the intelligent era. The successful holding of the first "Core Innovation Cup" competition provides students with opportunities to strengthen innovative practice. Some outstanding works will have the opportunity to be further optimized and implemented with the help and guidance of vehicle manufacturers and supplier companies, and also make positive contributions to promoting the cultivation of automotive human-computer interaction talents and industrial collaborative innovation.
