IR launches optimized 600 V automotive IGBT series

International Rectifier (IR), a global leader in power semiconductors and management solutions, has launched a new 600V automotive IGBT series optimized for variable speed motor control and power applications in electric and hybrid vehicles.

The new devices are suitable for a wide current range, provide a short-circuit rating of 5μs, low Vce(on) and positive Vce(on) temperature coefficient, and are suitable for a variety of motor drive systems from electric air conditioners to main traction inverters that require high power density of 24A-160A. Other features of the series include square reverse bias safe operating area (SRBSOA), integrated soft recovery diode and maximum junction temperature of 175°C.

"IR's new 600V automotive IGBT series features low conduction and switching losses, making it ideal for a variety of variable speed motor control applications in electric and hybrid vehicle platforms," ​​said David Pan, IR's vice president of sales for Asia Pacific.

All IR automotive IGBT products follow IR's zero-defect automotive quality philosophy and undergo dynamic and static device averaging testing and 100% automated wafer-level visual inspection. The materials used in the new devices are environmentally friendly, lead-free, and also compliant with the Regulation of Hazardous Substances in Electronic Products (RoHS).
