Mossel Bay, the shining pearl of the Western Cape Province of South Africa, is close to the Cape of Good Hope and has a profound historical heritage. As a port city, it is famous for its mild climate and pure beaches. However, limited by the overall power situation in South Africa, Mossel Bay also faces the challenges of unstable power supply and rising costs, which puts significant pressure on the local aquaculture industry with a long history. Therefore, exploring stable and efficient energy solutions to ensure the stable development of the aquaculture industry and promote industrial upgrading are key issues that Mossel Bay needs to solve urgently.

With its keen market insight and professional technical strength, Mingmei New Energy worked with local aquaculture and processing companies to actively seek solutions to power problems, conduct detailed market research, understand the bottlenecks of power supply in the region and the development needs of enterprises, and finally proposed a 1725kW/2236kWh energy storage system solution, which was completed and connected to the grid in June 2024. The energy storage system consists of 6 ProeM liquid-cooled energy storage cabinets with a capacity of 372kWh, a DC junction cabinet, and a 1725kW PCS and box transformer.

Mossel Bay is located on the coast of the Indian Ocean. Its unique marine climate brings evenly distributed precipitation and significant sea breeze, which places strict requirements on the temperature stability, cycle life, safety, etc. of the energy storage system. In order to meet this challenge, Mingmei New Energy carefully selected the ProeM liquid-cooled energy storage cabinet to build the solution. The ProeM liquid-cooled energy storage cabinet uses a relatively high thermal conductivity liquid to indirectly or directly contact the battery to achieve heat transfer between solid and liquid to reduce the battery temperature, so that the battery pack can be kept at the optimal operating temperature, extend the service life of the battery pack, and improve the energy storage efficiency; its IP54 level protection capability has been strictly tested in rain and extreme temperature environments, and has successfully passed UL9540A and IEC62619, IEC63056 test certification, ensuring the stable operation of the equipment in a complex marine climate; precise temperature control and BMS optimization reduce battery loss, increase cycle life, and reduce maintenance costs. This energy storage system solution not only provides the company with a stable power supply, ensuring its continued operation and development and achieving long-term economic benefits, but also helps achieve local green goals. It is estimated that it can reduce local carbon emissions by approximately 2,075 tons each year.

The cooperation project between Mingmei New Energy and local enterprises in Mossel Bay is another expansion and deepening of its global energy storage map. The 1725kW/2236kWh energy storage project jointly built by the two parties not only provides a paradigm for the power supply guarantee and stable operation of local key industries in the Mossel Bay area, but also helps to promote the optimization and upgrading of the energy structure and sustainable development in the region. In the future, Mingmei New Energy will uphold a more open and inclusive spirit of cooperation, actively embrace the wave of global energy transformation, and move forward side by side with partners from all over the world to jointly explore the innovative potential and unlimited possibilities in the field of new energy.
