Liaoning applies for two 100-megawatt-class flow battery energy storage projects, the first of its kind in the national energy sector

On February 2, 2024, the Liaoning Provincial Development and Reform Commission publicly announced the list of first-of-its-kind projects in the national energy field, of which two flow battery technologies were included, namely:

Technical equipment name: 100-megawatt aqueous organic flow battery energy storage system

Research and development unit: Suqian Times Energy Storage Technology Co., Ltd., School of Chemistry and Materials Science, University of Science and Technology of China, China Coal Technology and Engineering Chongqing Engineering Technology Co., Ltd.

Supporting project: 200MW/800MWh hybrid energy storage demonstration project in Yuhong District, Shenyang, Liaoning

Technical equipment name: Mixed acid-based all-vanadium liquid flow battery energy storage equipment

Research and development unit: Shenyang Hengjiu Antai Environmental Protection and Energy Saving Technology Co., Ltd.

Supporting projects: Huaneng Yingkou 200MW energy storage peak-shaving power station project; Heishan County 100MW/400MWh all-vanadium liquid flow energy storage power station

Public announcement of the list of first-of-its-kind projects in the national energy sector

In accordance with the requirements of the National Energy Administration's "Notice on Organizing the Application for the Fourth Batch of First (Set) Major Technical Equipment in the Energy Field", our commission organized all cities to actively participate in the application, and currently there are 9 projects applied. Now, 9 projects including the "100-megawatt-class aqueous organic liquid flow battery energy storage system" that are planned to be included in the list of the first (set) major technical equipment in the national energy field (see the attachment for the specific list) are announced.

During the publicity period, any organization or individual may raise written objections to the contents of the publicity. The objection materials should indicate the real name and contact information, and the organization or individual raising the objection shall be responsible for the authenticity and reliability of the objection materials. Anonymous objections or objections without specific factual basis, as well as improper requests involving personal interests, will not be accepted.
