On January 15, the 61MW/123MWh Nangang Energy Storage Power Station Project achieved full-capacity grid-connected operation for 72 hours. It is reported that this is the largest single-capacity user-side energy storage project in China, and also the largest industrial and commercial energy storage project in the country using advanced string energy storage systems. It has a significant demonstration effect in the industry and on the user side, marking another breakthrough and improvement of Nangang in the field of low-carbon manufacturing.
Nangang is constantly exploring the development path of the "dual carbon" goal and insisting on the development path of replacing traditional energy with new energy. In order to increase the means and capabilities of "dynamic response", Nangang, through sufficient research and planning, with the support of provincial and municipal governments and power supply companies, started the construction of a 61MW/123MWh energy storage power station on May 25, 2023. The construction was completed on December 28, 2023 and the linkage commissioning began. On January 11, 2024, the full capacity of 123MWh was achieved and the grid was connected to the grid, with two charges and two discharges per day. The rated total output power of the power station is 61 MW, the total capacity is 123 MW, the grid-connected voltage level is 35 kilovolts, and the maximum grid load can be reduced by 60,000 kilowatts.
The Nangang Energy Storage Power Station Project is an exploratory practice aimed at building an energy system that combines multi-energy complementarity with energy storage and promoting the green transformation and development of enterprises. The project innovatively adopts small-module energy storage modules to reduce the risk unit of energy storage batteries and effectively reduce the impact of fire risks. Give full play to the advantages of compact structure and flexible configuration of small modules, and arrange as many energy storage batteries as possible on irregular plots to maximize benefits. According to the peak electricity price policy of Jiangsu Province, the energy storage power station can adjust parameters in time and flexibly change the charging and discharging mode to achieve peak shaving and valley filling and stabilize electricity prices.
