On July 13, the largest electrochemical energy storage power station in China was successfully connected to the grid and put into operation in Shache County, Xinjiang. CRRC provided a full set of energy storage system integration equipment for the power station. Xinhua Power Shache 800,000 kW photovoltaic + 200,000 kW/800,000 kWh energy storage integrated project was invested and constructed by Shaanxi Xinhua Water Conservancy and Hydropower Investment Co., Ltd. The project has a supporting energy storage scale of 200MW/800MWh and is currently the largest electrochemical energy storage power station in China.
The energy storage power station is located in the photovoltaic power generation park in Shache County, Xinjiang. The energy storage system provided by CRRC consists of 77 2.6MW/10.4366MWh (9.691MWh) lithium iron phosphate battery energy storage sub-units, including 77 converter booster cabins and 154 energy storage battery cabins. The 35kV side of the booster transformer of multiple sets of lithium iron phosphate battery energy storage subsystems is connected to a 35kV energy storage collection line by hand-in-hand wiring. The energy storage power station is connected to the 35kV busbar of the 220kV collection station with multiple energy storage collection lines.
The energy storage power station uses advanced system control technology, supports massive data and equipment access, and can achieve "millisecond-level" rapid power and collaborative control. In terms of safety, through high-stability and high-security system design, data storage security can be guaranteed in extreme fault conditions; fault prediction and health management based on big data are used to manage the battery throughout its life cycle, which can effectively identify anomalies, diagnose faults, and provide early warning and maintenance. At the same time, multi-level safety assurance technology is applied to fire safety to accurately detect smoke and temperature changes, and perform multi-level alarms, automatic fire extinguishing, and linked fire extinguishing.
After the energy storage power station is completed and put into operation, it will play a significant supporting role in the peak load regulation, frequency regulation, and voltage regulation of the entire Xinjiang power grid, further improving the safety and stability of the local power grid. According to the calculation of one charge and one discharge per day, it can generate 292 million kWh of electricity per year, reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 230,000 tons, which is equivalent to the electricity required by 500,000 residential users for one month during peak hours.
This project is a concrete measure taken by CRRC to assist Xinjiang’s development. It is also a vivid practice of CRRC actively responding to the country’s “dual carbon” strategy, playing the role of a central enterprise, and actively promoting the country’s green energy transformation and upgrading.
Looking to the future, CRRC will continue to focus on the two major areas of transportation and energy, strive to build a new industrial development pattern of "dual tracks and dual clusters" for rail transit equipment and clean energy equipment, promote equipment manufacturing to move towards high-end, intelligent and green, and make new contributions to promoting the country to build a green and intelligent transportation system and realize green energy transformation and upgrading.
