British energy solutions company myenergi has launched its own modular home battery, libbi. According to the manufacturer, libbi is a revolutionary product that achieves energy independence and sustainability in applications, designed to capture as much surplus solar power as possible while integrating with other myenergi devices.
Jordan Brompton, co-founder and chief marketing officer of myenergi, said: “We’re really excited to be bringing the Smart Home Battery to the UK market. There are currently around one million homes in the UK with solar panels installed, and as electric vehicle sales continue to grow and the transition to electric heating accelerates, we know there will be huge growth in domestic renewable generation and the need for battery storage to maximise it.
The modular design uses a 5.1KWh battery pack that can be expanded to 20.4KWh using a 3.68kW or 5kW inverter. Depending on availability, customers can choose whether to use solar, grid electricity, or a mix of the two.
The home battery solution integrates batteries, inverters and controllers, allowing customers to complete their home energy ecosystem. Myenergi claims that Libbi is eco-smart and makes smart decisions about when to deliver power and store power based on energy usage, solar generation and customer electricity prices.
Unlike other home batteries, Libbi will allow customers to prioritize loads as they wish in the MyEnergi app, for example, to avoid automatic battery discharge when they plug in their electric car, or conversely, to charge the electric car directly from the home battery when Zappi is in ECO mode.
Lee Sutton, co-founder and CEO of myenergi, said: "We are committed to innovation and we are excited to provide technology that helps customers gain energy autonomy. Our Libbi home battery will help our customers complete their own energy ecosystem, allowing them to reduce their reliance on grid power and become more energy independent to reduce energy costs and reduce their own carbon footprint."
