On April 19, the sodium-ion battery launch conference of Hunan Cube New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. & Hunan Sodium-ion New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Cube New Energy & Sodium-ion New Energy) was successfully held. As a pioneer in the new energy and green business, the successful launch of sodium-ion batteries means that Cube has taken the lead in the new generation of energy storage battery market.
The chemical properties of sodium ions and the working principle of sodium ion batteries are similar to those of lithium ions. In addition, sodium ranks sixth in the content of elements in the earth's crust, which is more than 400 times that of lithium, and its resources are very abundant. Compared with lithium-ion batteries, sodium ion batteries have many advantages such as low cost, good safety and stability, fast charging support, and excellent low-temperature characteristics.
At the press conference, Cube New Energy Company and CRRC Zhuzhou Electric Locomotive Research Institute Co., Ltd., and Sodium New Energy Company and Guizhou Zhenhua New Materials Co., Ltd. signed cooperation agreements respectively to jointly promote the electrochemical energy storage industry to accelerate the layout of sodium electric materials, assist the high-quality development of the domestic new energy industry, and contribute to the realization of the "dual carbon" goals.

At present, the company has received samples and mass production orders from multiple customers for use in low- and medium-speed electric vehicles, electric buses, and household energy storage. In June, the company will begin small-scale production of sodium-ion soft-pack batteries and start mass production in 2023. This will drive the rapid development of the entire sodium-ion battery industry chain and promote the diversified development of the energy storage industry.
Based on the first generation of sodium-ion batteries, the second generation of Cube products is under development. The energy density of the soft-pack full battery will exceed 160Wh/Kg and 280Wh/L, and the cycle life will reach more than 4,000 times. Through the integration and optimization of processes, the manufacturing cost can be further reduced, which can further meet the needs of the energy storage market and solve the problem of the industry being limited by lithium resources, thereby achieving comprehensive application in the fields of energy storage and low-speed electric vehicles.
