So far, 63 "carbon power" units of 300 MW and above in Zhejiang Power Grid have completed the transformation of deep peak regulation to 40% of rated capacity. It has been verified that all technical indicators meet the requirements of grid operation and relevant standards. Without large-scale technical transformation investment in the units, the transformation has added nearly 4,000 MW of peak regulation capacity to Zhejiang Power Grid, which is equivalent to the total capacity of the two pumped storage power stations of Tianhuangping and Changlongshan, greatly improving the flexibility and adaptability of Zhejiang Power Grid operation.
In addition, Zhejiang is also conducting research and exploration on deep peak regulation of units of different capacities and types to 30% of rated capacity, and it is hoped that greater peak regulation capacity can be tapped in the future.
With the gradual adjustment of energy substitution strategies, the gradual improvement of auxiliary service market mechanisms, and the emergence of clean, low-carbon, flexible and efficient "carbon power" technologies such as secondary reheating, biomass blending, coupled energy storage, and carbon dioxide capture, utilization and storage, "carbon power" will further explore its own power value. While gaining new development opportunities, the transformation and upgrading of "carbon power" also provides support for the construction of new power systems.
