China Energy Storage Network News: On December 15, the "Zero Carbon Brain" system was officially launched in Jiangsu Power Grid. The system combines traditional dispatching and control systems with new energy prediction systems to promote the efficient use of new energy and help Jiangsu Power Grid save energy and reduce carbon emissions.
The "Zero Carbon Brain" is a precise power grid control system and the first provincial power grid precise dispatching and control system in China. In addition to the traditional dispatching capabilities, it can also predict the power generation of new energy sources such as wind and light through high-precision meteorological monitoring and analysis. At present, the system has achieved high-precision prediction of the power generation of new energy sources such as wind power and photovoltaic power generation in the ultra-short term of 10 hours, the short term of 3 days, and the medium term of 10 days, with a prediction accuracy of up to 93.7%.
"The efficient use of new energy is inseparable from the efficient configuration of the power grid. The 'zero-carbon brain' can accurately predict the power generation of new energy, analyze the carrying capacity of regional power grids, adjust user controllable loads, enhance the interactive capabilities of power sources, power grids, users and energy storage, and support and serve the clean energy supply." Huo Xuesong, director of the Hydropower and New Energy Department of Jiangsu Electric Power Dispatching and Control Center, introduced.
According to statistics, as of November, the installed capacity of new energy in Jiangsu province reached 38.816 million kilowatts, accounting for 25% of the province's total installed power generation capacity; from January to November this year, Jiangsu's new energy power generation increased by 54.5% year-on-year, and the output efficiency of new energy has increased significantly.
The traditional power grid system uses a precisely controllable power generation system to match the basically measurable power consumption system, among which power dispatching can be said to be the "central nervous system" of the power grid. As the proportion of new energy power sources continues to increase, the traditional power grid operation mode has shifted to a new mode of source-grid-load interaction. "New energy sources such as wind and solar power have the characteristics of large volatility and strong randomness. The large-scale access of new energy sources brings uncertainty to safe and reliable power supply. Combining the dispatching control system with the new energy prediction system is a concrete practice to promote the construction of a new power system." Huo Xuesong said.
In Guanyun County, Lianyungang, 794,000 kilowatts of wind power and 255,430 kilowatts of photovoltaic power generation have been connected to the "zero-carbon brain" system. "Through this system, Guanyun County's annual clean electricity consumption will reach 1.3 billion kilowatt-hours, exceeding 88% of Guanyun County's annual electricity consumption, equivalent to reducing carbon dioxide emissions by about 130,000 tons," said Zhou Yefei, deputy chief engineer of the New Energy Research Center of the China Electric Power Research Institute.
