China Energy Storage Network News: "By building a virtual power plant platform, we have made the adjustable resources on the load side observable, measurable and adjustable at all times, laying the foundation for the normal participation of load-side resources in dispatching and operation of super-large urban power grids. This is an important practice to implement the State Council's "Carbon Peak Action Plan before 2030." Zhang Bin, deputy general manager of Shenzhen Power Supply Bureau, said.
Jointly developed by China Southern Power Grid Shenzhen Power Supply Bureau and China Southern Power Grid Research Institute, the first network-ground integrated virtual power plant operation and management platform in China (hereinafter referred to as the "virtual power plant platform") was recently put into trial operation in Shenzhen. According to reports, the platform is deployed on the China Southern Power Grid Dispatching Cloud, and both the network and provincial levels (China Southern Power Grid General Dispatching and Shenzhen Power Supply Bureau Dispatching Organization) can directly dispatch, successfully providing a solution for the traditional "source follows load" dispatching mode to a new "source-load interaction" mode.
Accelerating the construction of a new power system dominated by non-fossil energy such as wind power and photovoltaics, the randomness and volatility of the power supply side have increased, and it is urgent to tap the load-side regulation capabilities to cope with the real-time balance of power generation and consumption. As a "bridge" for interaction between users and large power grids, the virtual power plant platform aggregates adjustable resources of users with multiple points, wide coverage and small single capacity through advanced Internet of Things, 5G communication and big data technologies.
According to reports, the trial operation of the virtual power plant platform fully tested the integrity and stability of the platform's functions, laying a good foundation for the official operation of the platform. During the period, the Shenzhen Power Supply Bureau initiated grid peak load regulation demands to more than 10 users through the platform, and the Shenzhen Metro Group station and Shenzhen Water Group's Bijiashan Water Plant, represented by Shenzhen Energy Power Sales Company, responded. Subsequently, Shenzhen Metro and Shenzhen Water Group accurately adjusted the power load of 3,000 kilowatts in total according to the plan, while ensuring normal production safety, which is equivalent to the air conditioning power consumption of 2,000 households.
