On June 17, the first phase of the power battery project of Sichuan Times New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Sichuan Times"), a wholly-owned subsidiary of CATL, was officially put into operation. Peng Lin, deputy director of the Standing Committee of the Sichuan Provincial People's Congress, Liu Zhongbo, secretary of the Yibin Municipal Party Committee, Du Ziping, mayor of Yibin, and other provincial and municipal leaders attended the event. Zeng Yuqun, chairman of CATL, and a number of supply chain company representatives also attended the event.

The commissioning of the first phase of the Sichuan Times Power Battery Project is a major achievement of the cooperation between Yibin City and CATL. It is another milestone for CATL to build a world-class new energy vehicle power battery research and development and production base in Yibin, and marks that the coordinated development of Yibin's new energy vehicle industry and lithium battery industry has entered a new stage.
Zeng Yuqun, Chairman of CATL, said:
The Yibin base is an important part of CATL's global layout. After completion, it will become CATL's most strategically important power battery production base in the southwest region. The Yibin base will provide supporting services to vehicle partners across the country and even around the world with higher efficiency. Sichuan Times will surely become the world's Sichuan Times.
Since September 2019, CATL and Yibin City have successively signed the Sichuan Times Power Battery Project Phases 1 to 6, with a total investment of more than 30 billion yuan and an area of about 3,000 acres. Yibin has a good transportation infrastructure. After the completion of the Yibin base, the logistics time will be within 3 hours, and the power battery can appear on the production line of the Chengdu or Chongqing vehicle factory, which will greatly improve the transportation efficiency of the company's products. At the same time, Yibin has abundant water resources, which can meet the company's emission reduction and carbon reduction requirements in production and manufacturing, and achieve carbon neutrality throughout the life cycle of power batteries.
