Beijing Power Exchange: New energy consumption situation continues to improve in the first quarter

On April 24, Beijing Power Exchange held a press conference in Beijing to release information on power market transactions in the first quarter of 2020. The press conference was held online. The conference mainly released transaction information, introduced power supply and demand situation forecasts, market-based transaction organization and other information.

Affected by the epidemic, the total scale of electricity traded and market-based electricity traded in the first quarter decreased year-on-year. In the first quarter, the total electricity traded by power trading centers in the operating area of ​​State Grid Corporation of China totaled 1,004.9 billion kWh, a year-on-year decrease of 9.2%. Among them, the market-based electricity traded was 266.7 billion kWh, a year-on-year decrease of 23.6%. The direct electricity traded was 194.6 billion kWh, a year-on-year decrease of 28.8%, reducing the electricity cost of electricity users by 6.1 billion yuan, and continuously releasing the dividends of reform.

In the first quarter, the consumption of new energy in the company's operating area continued to improve. In terms of power generation, the power generation of new energy reached 132.4 billion kWh, a year-on-year increase of 14.5%; the proportion of new energy power generation in total power generation was 10.8%, an increase of 2.0 percentage points year-on-year; the utilization rate of new energy was 96.1%, an increase of 0.1 percentage point year-on-year.

During the epidemic prevention and control period, Beijing Power Exchange Center established a working mechanism of "daily report, daily consultation, and weekly rolling" for power trading, paid close attention to the load and power supply and demand balance in Central China, and dynamically adjusted the inter-provincial trading plan; continued to carry out inter-provincial trading, using "electricity" to exchange "electricity coal"; worked hard to expand the scale of power transmission, flexibly carried out contract transfer, Hunan hydropower transmission and other emergency support transactions, and made every effort to ensure the stable operation of the Central China power grid. Beijing Power Exchange Center took multiple measures to serve epidemic prevention and control, and ensure power supply in key areas such as Hubei, ensuring uninterrupted trading, reform and service, and helping to win the battle against epidemic prevention and control.

Relevant leaders from the National Development and Reform Commission, the National Energy Administration, relevant power generation companies, power plants and customer representatives, and relevant comrades from relevant departments of the company headquarters attended the meeting.
