China Energy Storage Network News: On April 20, with the last phase conductor of Section 8 in Guizhou in place, the DC line of the Yunnan-Guizhou Interconnection Channel Project, the first domestic project to transform two-terminal DC into three-terminal DC, was fully connected. This is another landmark node in the construction process of the project.
According to reports, the Yunnan-Guizhou interconnection project is a landmark project to implement the Party Central Committee's green development concept, implement a series of decisions and deployments of the Party Central Committee and the State Council on strengthening the construction of new infrastructure, and assist in energy transformation and high-quality development. It mainly solves the problem of clean energy consumption in Yunnan, achieves mutual assistance and complementarity in electricity between Yunnan and Guizhou, and is conducive to building a good market mechanism platform.
The construction of the DC line of the Yunnan-Guizhou Interconnection Channel Project was completed in just 10 and a half months. Not only was the construction period tight, but the geology along the line was complex, passing through high altitudes, heavy ice areas, and karst landforms. The average altitude of the line is 1,950 meters, with high mountains and ridges accounting for 58.1%, heavy ice areas accounting for 38.6%, and entering the 40 mm heavy ice area. The level of construction complexity is the most complex among the DC projects of the Southern Power Grid.
In February this year, the State Grid Corporation of China established a battle command center to coordinate the ultra-high voltage company, Guizhou Power Grid, Yunnan Power Grid and other units, and concentrated 4,725 people to return to work. They worked continuously for more than 50 days, overcoming the new crown pneumonia epidemic, heavy ice areas, covered mines, and cross-crossing difficulties. They made up for the time lost due to the epidemic and achieved the full connection of the DC line on schedule, laying a solid foundation for winning the "battle" of the Yunnan-Guizhou interconnection project.
In addition, the receiving end of the project, Zhaoqing Converter Station AC Field, was also successfully started on April 19.
It is understood that the Yunnan-Guizhou interconnection channel project will be put into operation before the end of June this year. After the project is put into operation, it will add 3 million kilowatts of power transmission capacity, transmit about 6 billion kilowatt-hours of Yunnan hydropower each year, reduce standard coal consumption by about 1.8 million tons, and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 4.8 million tons, with obvious energy-saving and emission-reduction effects.
