On December 10, the 1000 kV transmission line of Datang Xilinhot Power Plant, a supporting project of the Ximeng-Shandong 1000 kV UHV AC transmission and transformation project, was officially connected to the grid and put into operation. This is the world's first UHV project that uses carbon fiber composite conductors throughout the entire line.
The 1000 kV transmission project of Datang Xilin Shengli Power Plant starts from Datang Xilinhot Power Plant and ends at the 1000 kV UHV Shengli Station. The total length of the line is 14.6 kilometers. The line is all made of carbon fiber composite core conductors independently developed by my country. Compared with traditional steel core conductors, carbon fiber composite core conductors have the advantages of high core strength, high conductor conductivity, and good temperature sag characteristics. The project was undertaken by State Grid Inner Mongolia Eastern Electric Power Co., Ltd. The construction site of the project is characterized by high cold, strong monsoon, unpredictable natural environment, raging sandstorms, and high requirements for grassland environmental protection. The company faces many challenges such as short construction period, heavy tasks, and difficult coordination. Under the leadership of the UHV Construction Department of State Grid Corporation of China, State Grid Mengdong Electric Power made full use of the golden construction seasons in summer and autumn in Ximeng League, coordinated all parties, and promoted the construction of the project in an intense and orderly manner.
The Ximeng-Shandong 1000 kV UHV AC power transmission and transformation project is one of the 12 key power transmission channels in the National Air Pollution Prevention and Control Action Plan. As an important supporting facility of the project, the grid-connected transmission line from Datang Xilinhot Power Plant to 1000 kV UHV Shengli Station will increase the power transmission by 1.32 million kWh per year, which will not only ease the power shortage in North China, but also improve the UHV AC grid structure in North China and ensure the safe and reliable output of power.
