On November 20, the 220 kV Santanghu-Naomaohu power transmission project in Hami, Xinjiang was fully connected. The project is scheduled to be put into operation before the end of this year, which can enhance the power transmission capacity of Hami's new energy and help the rapid development of the local new energy industry.

The Naomao Lake area is located 240 kilometers north of Hami. It has long sunshine hours and rich wind energy resources. It is one of the national million-kilowatt photovoltaic power generation test bases and a key construction area for the planning of Hami's 10 million-kilowatt wind power base. At present, Hami's installed power capacity has exceeded 21 million kilowatts, of which there are 153 new energy stations, accounting for 64% of the installed capacity. The installed capacity of wind power generation in the Naomao Lake area has reached 791,000 kilowatts, and the installed capacity of photovoltaic power generation has reached 20,000 kilowatts.

In order to ensure the reliable delivery of new energy power in the Naomao Lake area, Hami Power Supply Company started the construction of the 220 kV Santanghu-Naomao Lake transmission project in July 2018. The project starts from the 750 kV Santanghu substation and ends at the 220 kV Naomao Lake substation. It is 155.2 kilometers long and includes four sub-projects: the 220 kV Santanghu-Naomao Lake line project, the 220 kV interval expansion of the Santanghu substation, the 220 kV interval expansion project of the Naomao Lake substation, and the optical fiber communication project.

Previously, the new energy power in the Naomaohu area was sent from the 220 kV Naomaohu substation via the Shanbei substation to the 750 kV Hami substation. After the 220 kV Tangnao line was put into operation, the new energy power in the Naomaohu area has added a channel for sending from the 750 kV Santanghu substation, which can not only improve the sending capacity, but also improve the power supply reliability of the 220 kV Naomaohu substation, and further strengthen the Hami power grid.
